RedState Briefing 10/11/2012

Morning Briefing
For October 11, 2012

1. The American Political Press’s Psycho Moment
I was too hard on Chuck Todd in my earlier post. I apologize to him for it. My point was not to brow beat Chuck Todd, but many people took it as such. I have to conclude I failed to convey the extent of my point because in focusing as I did on Chuck Todd and his remark, I overshadowed the substance of his remark. That was my intended focus.

The substance of his remark was that the press, giving voice to people like Jack Welch and Donald Trump, among others, breaks down the public’s trust in government. My point is that it is not these people and us hearing their opinions that breaks down trust in government. That trust is broken down by the media itself and the American people clearly seeing a left-of-center bias in the media and an inability to relate to or seem to even care about the concerns of people in what some might call fly over country, or, more specifically, people who live along American river valleys other than the Hudson.

2. High Crimes: Obama’s War on Child Soldiers and the Rule of Law
Last week, the National Review published an interview with Lindsey Graham in which the two term U.S. Senator from South Carolina made the extraordinary allegation that President Barack Obama was  staging  a constitutional coup. “We are in danger of [no longer being] a rule of law nation,” Senator Graham told NRO’s Charles Cook. “It’s a mini-coup.”

Graham was referring to the political pressure being placed on Federal contractors to violate the 60-day employee layoff notification requirements mandated by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN).  The Obama administration’s solicitation of WARN Act violations is just the tip of a very sinister iceberg that threatens the U.S. ship of state. Over the past four years, President Obama has waged a war on the rule of law by repeatedly ignoring or selectively applying U.S. laws to suit his political purpose.  In the process, he has done violence to the principle that laws should be applied to everyone equally, even the President of the United States.

By far the most tragic victims of Obama’s war on the rule of law have been the child soldiers whose slave masters are supported with U.S. aid in violation of  the Child Soldier Prevention Act (CSPA). . . . please click here for the rest of the post

3.  What To Look For In The VP Debate
Thursday’s VP debate in Louisville – Muhammad Ali’s old home town – promises to be riveting TV, even if the absence of Sarah Palin means that, unlike in 2008, it’s unlikely that the VP debate will outdraw the presidential debates for ratings. On the Republican side, expectations are running high: Paul Ryan is a master of verbal combat, and hopes are high that he can build on Mitt Romney’s TKO of President Obama in the first debate. On the Democratic side, the pressure is on Vice President Biden to break the Romney-Ryan ticket’s recent momentum. Here’s what to watch for. . . . please click here for the rest of the post

4.  Send 2016 to Undecided Voters in Swing States
Many RedState readers have seen Dinesh D’Souza’s film 2016.

Our sister publication, Human Events, is today launching a project to send copies of 2016 to undecided voters in swing states. But they need your financial support to make it happen.

For each donation of $20.16, Human Events will send one copy of 2016 to a self-described “undecided” voter or household of voters in Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Michigan. They are using an outside voter targeting group to help identify the truly undecided voters.

I know from my radio show a lot of people have said, “Boy, if only we can show this video to undecided voters.” Well, here’s your chance to make that happen. Go here for more details and to help.  . . . please click here for the rest of the post
