Kids say new school lunch is starving them
Congratulations, Michelle -- you've "solved" the school lunch problem... by STARVING our children. Under the new Nanny State guidelines being pushed by Michelle Obama and the U.S. Department of Agriculture -- with an assist, no doubt, from Mike Bloomberg -- school cafeterias no longer offer heaping servings of crap. Nope. Now, it's smaller servings of crap.
I kid you not -- children are still being fed chicken nuggets, pizza, and French fries, just less of them. So much less that they're complaining of hunger pains, low energy, and an inability to concentrate -- and this isn't just teenage drama stuff. This is science.
You see, the powers-that-be didn't just cut back on the portions. More specifically, they decreased the amount of protein served and increased the levels of vegetables and fruits.
That's great... for bunnies. For humans, especially children, it's a recipe for poor health and developmental problems -- not to mention the hunger pains, low energy, and inability to concentrate they've been complaining of.
Some of the kids set those complaints to music, making a video showing how hungry they are. (Watch it here.) It's gotten them some national attention and the usual outrage from parents. But the real outrage is the idea of serving kids any of this crap in any amount in the first place-- before the new rules, or after.
If you really want your kids and grandkids to eat right, the answer today is the same as it's always been: Invest in some brown paper bags and fill it yourself.
You could hardly do worse. And you'll almost certainly do better.
