STOP THE ATTACKS ON THE 2ND AMENDMENT - LEFT WASTES TIME ATTACKING CONSTITUTION

GOVERNOR CHRISTIE IS RIGHT:
LAUTENBERG IS A WASTE OF OUR TIME!
Just when we thought our Right to Keep and Bear Arms was safe from the U.N. gun grab and the Democrats' freedom-crushing CyberSecurity Act gun control legislation in the Senate, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D – NJ) exploits the Wisconsin Sikh temple shooting to elicit renewed calls for dangerous gun bans!
WE MUST BE AS STEADFAST IN OUR DEFENSE OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT AS LAUTENBERG IS IN HIS DESTRUCTION OF IT DURING THIS CONGRESSIONAL RECESS.
Senator Lautenberg may have finally met his match by criticizing New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie over Christie's insistence that New Jersey does not need additional gun control laws. Christie also rightly contends the federal government should not have a role in gun legislation. Gov. Christie observed after the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting that certain Senators and a neighboring mayor (Bloomberg of New York) were grandstanding to try to force their anti-gun agenda in Congress; this obvious truism seems to have rankled the anti-gun contingent.
When Senators Lautenberg and Menendez called a press conference after the Sikh temple shooting to chastise Gov. Christie for his earlier comments, Christie's response set an excellent standard for the entire U.S. Senate. Christie said:

"I don't have any reaction to Senator Lautenberg. He is a waste of my time."
WE MUST WORK NOW TO MAKE THIS THE MANTRA FOR THE U.S. CONGRESS, WHEN THEY ADDRESS GUN RIGHTS WITH THE MEDIA THROUGHOUT THE AUGUST RECESS, AND WHEN THEY RETURN TO WASHINGTON AFTER LABOR DAY!
Examining recent actions by these Senators and Mayor Bloomberg will remind us of why we must be vigilant in our defense of our Second Amendment rights:
Senate Amendment 2575 is a good example of the tactic the anti-gun legislators use in taking a bill that may likely pass and attaching an amendment to it that would rob U.S. citizens of their guns and ammunition. Senate Amendment 2575 would have made it illegal to transfer or possess "higher" capacity feeding devices such as gun magazines, belts, feed strips and drums of more than 10 rounds of ammunition with the exception of .22 caliber rim fire ammunition.
S.3414, the CyberSecurity Act of 2012; SA 2575:
SEC. ll. PROHIBITION ON TRANSFER OR POSSESSION OF LARGE CAPACITY AMMUNITION FEEDING DEVICES.
(a) DEFINITION. – Section 921(a) of title 18, United States Code, is amended by inserting after paragraph (29) the following: "(30) The term 'large capacity ammunition feeding device' – "(A) means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition; but "(B) does not include an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition."
Had this anti-gun amendment passed, and you didn't comply, you could have faced fines, imprisonment up to ten years, or BOTH! Thanks to YOUR vigilance and activism, this bill WAS STOPPED COLD – for NOW! But Lautenberg and his gun-grabber cronies are relentless in pursuing their anti-gun legislative provisions
Their zeal is IRRATIONAL! Not only will new gun laws do NOTHING to stop massacres by criminals – still MORE gun control laws will leave MORE law-abiding Americans defenselessagainst crazed madmen intent on murder, armed robbers and thugs, and all the predators using weapons to perpetrate crimes and mayhem against innocent citizens.
Why does Congress want to disarm America's HONEST AND LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS?
Following the recent killings in a Colorado "gun-free" theater that PROHIBITED Constitutional, lawful concealed carry, Barack Obama promoted renewing the idiotic Assault Weapons Ban, ignorantly announcing, "AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not on the streets of our cities."
Well, Mr. Obama, the AK-47 is already the gang assault weapon of choice around the country. And the only "soldiers" who favor it are third world revolutionaries and the Crips and Bloods. As much as the Brady campaign might like to think these low-life criminals will obey a new gun control law and just hand over their illegally possessed firearms, common sense says it just is not going to happen, and that another "feel good" gun ban will do NOTHING to stop random attacks. Instead, assault weapons will fetch record amounts on the black market and be virtually untraceable by law enforcement. That's not to mention that fewer law-abiding Americans will possess firearms for self-defense and thus become more vulnerable, and more frequent, victims of brazen criminals!
Take the Schumer / Lautenberg-proposed ban on online ammunition sales, which is being pushed in the House by relentless gun-control fanatic Carolyn McCarthy. It would make rules for buying ammo the same as buying a gun. It sounds "reasonable" but here is just one tiny problem – it won't work!
The Colorado killer was able to LEGALLY buy a gun from a dealer, and under this new gun control proposal, he still would have been able to buy the ammunition he attained, he just would have had to hop in his car or on a bike – or maybe eco-friendly public transit – to go to the store. But that's not all! The law would mandate licensed dealers to report "high volume" sales (more than 1,000 rounds) to an unlicensed person within any five consecutive business days. While this latter provision may force persons planning MURDER to spread out their purchases in order to go undetected, at the end of the day, it's only a matter of changing the timing of their crime, not stopping the crime.
Gun control fanatics need to grasp that CRIMINALS commit crimes, not guns.
Leftwing politicians also aren't mentioning that murder and overall violent crime rates have fallen DRASTICALLY since the federal ban against semi-automatic guns expired in September 2004, just as they are not mentioning that tragedies like the Aurora massacrehave occurred principally in the few areas where guns are banned – schools, private businesses, etc. – with a single notable exception, the attack in Tucson last year.
The Heritage Foundation is raising the alarm over this newest legislative attack on our Second Amendment, saying:
"The Lautenberg amendment may functionally ban a number of handguns, including smaller handguns that are often used for self defense, and therefore the amendment raises serious constitutional questions… Should Congress decide to proceed, then the serious constitutional questions at stake demand that Congress must at a minimum hold further constitutional hearings and investigations rather than rushing to regulate."
The Hill rightly calls Lautenberg "a long-time proponent of tougher gun laws" given his record of attempting to ban assault rifles and high-capacity clips. The gun-grabbing Democrats, who are so tastelessly exploiting the shootings in Aurora, Colorado, to further their anti-gun agenda MUST BE STOPPED!
Don't let Big Government's misguided gun control laws make you the next helpless victim! At BOTH venues where these recent tragic shooting sprees occurred, the criminal KNEW with virtual certainty he would be the ONLY PERSON ARMED…
Americans RIGHTLY REJECT gun control as an infringement on liberty, and ineffectual! But New Jersey Democrat Sen. Frank Lautenberg and New York Democrat Sen. Chuck Schumer DO think gun control is a great idea, even though it has never, ever worked anywhere in the world. So they shoved a gun control amendment onto the deservedly embattled Senate Cybersecurity Act of 2012 – and several leftwing Senators signed on. They and several other anti-gun legislators used emotional appeals based on the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting to trample the rights of every American to Keep and Bear Arms.
Schumer – one of the amendment's co-sponsors – led the charge with anti-gun Democrat Sens. Frank Lautenberg and Bob Menendez of New Jersey, Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein of California, Jack Reed of Rhode Island,  and Kirsten Gillibrand, also of New York. Fortunately, the absolutely awful CISPA legislation which had already passed the House, failed in the cloture vote. Lautenberg is determined to dominate the public debate about gun control during Congress' recess so he can re-introduce his amendment to the next bill that is "must-pass" legislation in the Senate!
The gun control crowd is becoming more sophisticated in their manipulation of public opinion. They use openly emotional appeals to draw attention to their legislation; they pretend to be conciliatory and moderate in the effect of their actions; and they label their opponents as the extremists, thus using the usual name-calling tactics and trying to marginalize opposition. Sen. Schumer said magnanimously that he does not want to ban all guns, and that gun owners can be controlled short of that, reported the Daily Caller:
"If you look at the ads from the NRA and from the groups even further over – the Gun Owners of America – their basic complaint is that the Chuck Schumers of the world want to take away your gun, even if it's the hunting rifle your Uncle Willie gave you when you were 14," stated Schumer.
Schumer continued that it is not his goal to get rid of all guns, but rather to have "some rational laws on guns" that would dictate whether a person is "an average normal American citizen," therefore allowing them the right to bear arms.
Sen. Schumer needs to hear from YOU that the Constitution GUARANTEES YOUR RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS, and he does NOT get to decide if you are 'normal' enough by his New York standards to be 'allowed' your natural right to self defense! He says he wants 'reasonable' restrictions placed on the Second Amendment…
There are millions of responsible of gun owners in America – including YOU – who DO NOT need Chuck Schumer or Frank Lautenberg judging and limiting what is a 'reasonable' weapon or a 'reasonable' number of rounds for target practice, or for a hunting trip – or for YOUR self-defense! There is NOTHING 'reasonable' about the gun control agenda, and that's the truth.
The 'reasonable' answer to emotional demands for gun control after a tragic shooting is simple enough. Sensible people are angry with the criminal, the shooter, not the weapons he used to commit his crimes! There are not millions and millions of Americans clamoring for gun control following this tragedy because Americans KNOW gun control in fact disarms the innocent and makes more victims!
In Colorado, circumstances were worse, not better, because the venue was supposedly a "gun free zone" – innocent people in the theater were disarmed in compliance with the theater chain's policy. Only the criminal had weapons. The criminal KNEW THIS – criminals by definition DO NOT COMPY with laws, regulations and restrictions on their conduct! Americans KNOW gun control only controls the law-abiding; they KNOW it is a fallacy, a sham, a leftwing statist illusion thatcreates more victims, grows government power and increases crime.
New York City Mayor Bloomberg shockingly agreed with CNN host Piers Morgan's advocacy for more gun control, saying: "I don't understand why the police officers across this country don't stand up collectively and say we're gonna go on strike, we're not gonna protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what's required to keep us safe. After all, police officers want to go home to their families."
OK. Yes, you read that right. Bloomberg, a relentless gun control ideologue, called for breach of oath; insurrection; anarchy. This passes for governance, for leadership, for lofty vision in America these days.
Where to begin? Police (of course) are prohibited by law from striking – the "Taylor Law" in New York imposes broad strike bans on critical public workers – and virtually every jurisdiction in the nation bars police and firefighters from striking.
Now, thanks to Bloomberg's agonizing, months-long, disgraceful failure for months to protect the city's safety, security, and dignity during the grubby and violent "Occupy-ation" of Wall Street, it is already clear to New Yorkers and the nation that Bloomberg is no Rudy Giuliani, who for all his sins can keep his public safety priorities straight.
As noted by Seth Mandel in Commentary, "…Bloomberg was willing to sacrifice public safety to make grand political gestures. And they learned that lesson again yesterday. Bloomberg, who is as pro-gun control as anyone with his own army, went on Piers Morgan's show and revealed that the Occupy protests seemed to have left a special place in his heart for subjecting the city to periodic bursts of anarchy…"
Bloomberg is the petty tyrant under whose administration, among other outrages, "Big Gulp" soft drinks have been banned by force of law because he says they are making New Yorkers too fat, and tons of restaurant quality, free food donations to homeless sheltershave been outlawed because the city can't assess their salt, fat and fiber content.
And NOW he wants America's guns!
So rule of law conceptually appears to pose real challenges for this guy. But it must be said: Bloomberg's ignorance and idiocy in advocating gun control are going to get more people killed. We not only have a RIGHT, we have an affirmative DUTY to self protection. And however deeply we as free citizens appreciate the honorable dedication and sacrifice of those in law enforcement, they take their oaths principally to serve and protect as law enforcement officers – NOT as our personal bodyguards.
Law enforcement officers, LEOs, will NEVER serve Americans primarily as violence or crime prevention officers. Their principal duties are to find and arrest people who have committed crimes, not the impossible task of preventing potential crimes from happening in the first place. Clearly, the responsibility for victim prevention lies with the potential victim. This is a duty of responsible self-government.
The tragic shootings in Colorado immediately provoked the gun control lobby into a frenzy of hyperbolic and idiotic reaction. The appalling incitement by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg earned the following smackdown by www.officer.com Editor Frank Borelli:
What we've JUST seen, Monday, July 23rd, was the first time a politician in the national limelight called on police officers, nationwide, to neglect their duty and endanger lives to serve that politician's anti-gun cause…
Well, Mayor Bloomberg, let me give you a few reasons why, and in the process hopefully explain how your suggestion is not only stupid, but it's insulting, AND it marks you as a politician who doesn't care in the least about his constituency.
First, we law enforcement professionals take an oath. That oath includes promising to fairly and impartially enforce the laws of our city, county and state. That oath includes obeying and/or protecting the Constitution of the United States (which contains that thing called the 2nd Amendment if you remember correctly)….
The law enforcement professionals who take such an oath are quite often men and women who have taken a similar oath as they entered military service. They have family members who also serve in a public safety uniform. They are the kind of men and women who volunteer to run TOWARD the sound of shots instead of away from them. They are the kind of people who hold honor close in their hearts and they feel the weight of their duty; a duty they chose; a duty they take seriously; a duty contained in their oath; a duty they won't shirk simply to serve some politician's agenda.
How dare you, Mayor Bloomberg… How dare you suggest that over 700,000 honorable, decent and brave men and women neglect their duty, forget their oath, and risk the public safety in the name of YOUR anti-gun agenda…
…We fulfill the duty we embraced when we chose this career path. We back up our oath with a level of honor and dedication I don't think you'll ever understand.
But understand this: my honor and my duty are not things to be played with. They don't get conveniently set aside to serve your purpose. I will not compromise that which makes me a decent and moral human being to serve your cause.
We are a free and independent people of over 314 million – with no more than 700,000 law enforcement personnel active nationwide including discrete cohorts like campus and industrial police forces – and thankfully, there is no discernible enthusiasm among the populous to transform into a police state except among idiots like Bloomberg.
The vast majority of Americans rightfully revere the Second Amendment, and understand that it stands as a bulwark of our freedom, guaranteeing the means for self defense and self determination not only against criminals but against the temptations of criminal, thuggish and even tyrannical government – be it idiots like Bloomberg, despots like Obama, or threats from an anti-Constitutional Senate and Congress!
Americans KNOW:
Gun control does not disarm criminals or madmen; it does disarm law-abiding citizens.
Gun control is incompatible with liberty.
Conversely:
Gun ownership saves lives.
Concealed handgun carry by private citizens reduces violent crimes.
Less well understood is that mass shootings in public places are reduced to virtually zero within four or five years after right-to-carry laws are passed – except in designated "gun-free" zones, such as schools, where armed self-defense is known to be prohibited.
These are among the findings of the most comprehensive study of crime and gun control laws ever conceived, using the largest data set on crime ever assembled. In 1998, John R. Lott, Jr., at the time a senior research scholar in the School of Law at Yale University, authored the this exhaustive, landmark treatment, More Guns, Less Crime (The University of Chicago Press, 1998, 2000). His study is available in updated editions, and includes thorough analyses of more than 54,000 observations and hundreds of variable factors across more than 3,000 counties in all 50 states covering 18 years.
Lott's meticulously researched conclusions immediately set off retaliation by anti-gun fanatics, and triggered organized, systematic personal attacks of the most vicious and dishonest kind, including death threats against Lott and his family.
Despite the lefty histrionics, not a single serious academic challenge of Lott's research, his methodology or his incontrovertible findings has ever been successfully mounted. Indeed, Lott's conclusions have reluctantly been called "bulletproof" even by the liberal mainstream press.
Lott won the open contempt of gun-hater Barack Obama, who dismissed Lott as "the gun guy" when they were both instructing at Chicago during the 1990s.
Lott has recounted that at that time, Obama already had a full-on gun control mentality, contending that "no one" should be allowed to own a gun. Bloomberg is prominent among Obama's rabid anti-gun vanguard, as principal funder and co-founder with Boston Mayor Thomas Menino of Mayors Against Illegal Guns – and thick as thieves in his gun control agenda with Sens. Schumer, Lautenberg and Gillibrand!
Bloomberg's gun control group advocates numerous new federal legislative restrictions. Most menacing to our Second Amendment rights, Bloomberg promotes public information access to, and broad cross-agency use of nationwide firearms registration data, despite the inherent dangers to liberty of centralized gun databases. Obama's record on gun control includes:
  • 2004: Obama said the right to carry should be banned nationwide.
  • 2003: Obama voted to ban single-shot, over-under and side-by-side shotguns.
  • 1999: Obama supported a 500 percent increase in federal taxes on ammunition.
  • 1998: Obama endorsed a ban on the sale or transfer of all semi-automatic firearms.
  • 1996: Obama endorsed a total ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of all handguns.
In the recent Colorado tragedy, the Aurora theater chain where the killings occurred had a publicly posted policy of NO concealed carry. But the data and findings of John Lott's monumental work simply cannot be denied – the more guns there are in American society and the more these guns are carried by private citizens, the less crime there is. Gun control is NOT the right answer to criminals – exercising our Second Amendment rights and concealed carry IS.
These are some of the reasons why police, who fight crime for a living and are well aware of the realities of street criminals, support right-to-carry laws for private citizens by an overwhelming three-to-one margin. This is an even higher margin of support for right-to-carry than the strong support voiced by our American civilian population.
The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals (Bowers v. DeVito, 1982) did not mince words when its opinion stated, "There is no Constitutional right to be protected by the state against being murdered by criminals or madmen."
But Senators Schumer and Lautenberg, Mayor Bloomberg, and Barak Obama ALL notwithstanding, there IS a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms – and We the People mean to keep it.
SPEAK OUT NOW, and PROTECT YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT!
MAKE SURE CONGRESS GETS THE MESSAGE – LAUTENBERG IS A WASTE OF TIME!
