Dear Conservative,
Back in the 1990s, an elected official offered a fiery speech on why we need to peel back the layers of Federal Reserve secrecy.
This scene was repeated again in 2009 and 2010.
You may think this is another email about my dad’s quest to Audit the Federal Reserve and reveal how much money it prints and whose pockets it gets stuffed in.
But it’s not.
The elected official in question is none other than Harry Reid.
I’m not pulling your leg; it’s long past April Fool’s Day.
I’ll even provide you a link to the video after I take a moment to explain why this fight is so crucial.
You would think given his past support for Audit the Fed, he would be more than happy to schedule a vote on my dad’s bill which passed the House by a massive 327-98 vote margin.
Audit the Fed is an easy opportunity for all those Democrats to put their money where their mouth is on “working across the aisle.”
But media reports indicate that Harry Reid wants to kill this bill in the crib.
They say he won’t even allow a vote.
He doesn’t care that you deserve an answer as to where your money vanished to during the bailouts.
What could have changed?
He can sense the political wave building this fall. And he’s is terrified his majority will be swept away if vulnerable Democrats are forced to choose between voting to Audit the Fed or thwarting your effort to uncover the.
Protecting his perch as Senate Majority Leader means more to him than stopping the bailouts or restoring the value of your dollar.
You see, the Federal Reserve is one of the most secretive institutions in our nation.
And the Fed’s economy-wrecking policies have rolled unchecked long enough.
I think it’s high time you and I crack open the Fed’s books and catalogue the damage done to our economy.
But Harry Reid thinks otherwise.
He is just fine with the Obama Administration endangering national security by leaking every last detail of the raid that killed Osama Bin laden to Hollywood movie studies, but the mere suggestion of openness and transparency at the Fed pushes him into “nothing to see here folks” mode.
I have a plan to force a vote on Audit the Fed in the Senate.
But I am going to need your help to shove aside Harry Reid’s roadblocks.
First, I hope you’ll watch the video of Harry Reid’s speech backing Audit the Fed.
After you watch the video, I hope I can count on you to sign your “Vote on Audit the Fed Now!” petition right away.
Once you sign your petition, please make your most generous contribution of $100, $50, $25, $10 – or whatever you can afford – so RANDPAC can gin up a storm of outrage from the nearly 80% of Americans who demand accountability at the Fed.
We’ll use email, direct mail, and online banner ads to send a clear message to Harry Reid that he can no longer afford to stem the tide of Americans rising up in favor of transparency at the Fed.
With the election less than 100 days away, I can’t imagine any senator in a competitive race would be eager to explain to the voters why they couldn’t be bothered to figure out where all our money went.
I see nervous Democrats every day slinking around the Capitol.
They are terrified of this bill.
Either they will have to cast a vote forcing Ben Bernanke to come clean about the true amount of the, or they will expose themselves as unyielding supporters of policies that ground our economy to a near standstill.
And that is a recipe for certain defeat in November.
That’s why I hope you’ll watch the video of Harry Reid defending Audit the Fed.
After you watch the video, please sign your “Vote on Audit the Fed Now!” petition immediately.
Once you watch the video and sign the petition, please make your most generous contribution of $100, $50, $25, $10 – or whatever you can afford – right away so RANDPAC can mobilize fed up Americans through email, direct mail, and online ads to twist the screws on Harry Reid to schedule a vote in the senate on Audit the Fed.
I thank you for all that you have done in this fight.
For Liberty,
Rand Paul
United States Senator
P.S. Audit the Fed passed the House by an overwhelming 327-98 majority.
But news reports indicate Harry Reid refuses to schedule a vote on this crucial legislation.
