Excerpt: Mitt Romney demanded an apology from President Obama over allegations that Romney misled the public over his tenure at Bain Capital, declaring that he had “no role whatsoever in managing Bain Capital after 1999.” “He sure as heck ought to say that he’s sorry for the kinds of attacks that are coming from his team,” Romney told ABC. “If I were president of the United States I would put a stop to it and apologize to my campaign for what has been done by his.”

Quebec: Muslim woman who fought stereotypes of Muslims charged with trying to smuggle weapons to Hizballah
Excerpt: The guns she was running would have been more hurtful than any "stereotype." In any case, here we see clearly the link between "Islamophobia" victimhood-mongering and violent jihad. The former is just a deflection strategy to cover for the latter. (Guess she needs to reread the "Islam is a religion of peace" memo. ~Bob.)

Excerpt: Both the Central Assembly of God Church in Tehran and its summer campsite have been closed by the Islamic authorities, according to the Farsi Christian News Network. (Must keep the kuffer from infecting the Faithful. ~Bob.)

Excerpt: Under the new article proposed by the AKP to the commission drafting a constitutional reform, freedom of the press can be limited on a number of other accounts including 'public morality'.

Worth Reading: Uncertainty. By John C. Goodman
Excerpt: Did you know that public uncertainty about federal economic policy is at a 30-year high? Economists at Stanford University and the University of Chicago have actually discovered a way of measuring how uncertain people are. They find that their measure of uncertainty correlates with such economic activities as deciding to invest, deciding how much to produce and deciding whether to hire more workers.

Liars All. By Bill Tatro
Excerpt: What does the U.S. Federal Government, J.P. Morgan, and the government of China all have in common? Answer: they all lie.

Obama Blackmails the Middle Class. By Ann-Marie Murrell
Excerpt: Obama recently gave yet another televised pep rally, complete with a laughing, cheering progressive audience. The purpose this time was all about taxing his most hated class o' people, the Evil Rich (of which he finally admitted he is a part of). He used words like "holding hostage" and offered veiled threats to the middle to lower-classed, warning us that if his offer of taxing the rich doesn't happen, the middle class (cue threatening music) WILL PAY.

Excerpt: Yesterday CBS/NPR host Charlie Rose interviewed President Obama. As usual, all the softball questions were asked and answered. Perhaps the softest was "Mr. President, what do you see as your biggest weakness?". Obama first smirked, then postured with a intensely concerned look on his face, then said, "I've come to learn that it's not just getting policy right"..."I don't think I've done enough "storytelling".

Hunter tapped as one of 50 politicians to watch
Excerpt: Rep. Duncan Hunter has been named one of 50 politicians to watch by Politico, a Capitol Hill newspaper and website. Politico recounts his experience as a Marine in Iraq, and documents his close relationship with his father, who held the same congressional seat for 28 years before stepping down and seeing his son elected to it in 2008.

U.S. Navy scraps urinals to make war ships gender-neutral
The U.S. Navy is scrapping urinals from new war ships because increasing numbers of female sailors are enlisting. The change will be heralded by the Gerald R. Ford class of aircraft carriers, the first of which is due in late 2015. Getting rid of urinals lets the Navy easily switch restrooms - or heads as they're called on the high seas - from male to female or vice versa, helping ships to adapt to the changing gender make up of crews.

Must Watch: WBFF: Free Phone Frenzy - abuse of the federal Lifeline program
This just scratched the surface of the waste and fraud rampant in the Fed. Government today. Remember we pay for it. --Steve. Obamaphones, I hear they call them. ~Bob.

Exclusive: ADC's Misleading Sob Story on Elashi Brothers
Excerpt: The news release from the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) depicts a family torn apart by a heartless bureaucracy. Two brothers, stateless Palestinians, were "taken by ICE and the U.S. Air Marshalls (sic) from their children in Texas and sent to Egypt," where they are not welcome. ... Both are convicted felons tied to a terror-financing network based out of Dallas. And both had final orders of deportation issued against them in 2008 and 2009 that were never appealed, immigration records show.

Excerpt: The powerful Sinaloa drug cartel is believed to be behind one of the most sophisticated and well-engineered smuggling tunnels ever found along the U.S.-Mexico border, according to U.S. drug enforcement officials who announced the discovery Thursday in Yuma. The “fully operational” tunnel is a 755-foot passageway, tall enough for a 6-foot person to walk through, that burrows under the border fence, a park and a water canal. It connects a small, nondescript warehouse on the U.S. side to an inoperative ice manufacturing plant behind a strip club in Mexico.

http://blogs.the-american-interest.com/wrm/2012/07/13/the-largest-political-machine/

The deep pockets of teachers unions and other public sector unions provide the financial infrastructure that keeps the Left in business. It’s the ultimate political machine.

Combined, they amount to the most aggressive defense of Romney's tenure at Bain yet.

Worth Reading: Obama's Second Term Transformation Plans. By Steve McCann
Excerpt: If Barack Obama is re-elected the United States will never be the same, nor will it be able to re-capture its once lofty status as the most dominant nation in the history of mankind. The overwhelming majority of Americans do not understand that Obama's first term was dedicated to putting in place executive power to enable him and the administration to fulfill the campaign promise of "transforming America" in his second term regardless of which political party controls Congress. That is why his re-election team is virtually ignoring the plight of incumbent or prospective Democratic Party office holders. (The explanation of the creation of these massive bureaucracies already empowered to do whatever they want without oversight by Congress makes great sense. A clever way to get back the system of checks and balances the Founders built in to protect us all. And therefore really a super bad idea. --Del. It may, in fact, be too late regardless of the election. But we have no choice except fight on. ~Bob.)

California's third city in weeks to seek bankruptcy protection - facing the possibility of missing payroll.

Chicagoans Kill Chicagoans and they blame the pilgrims! By John Derbyshire, Taki's Magazine
Excerpt: I couldn’t find demographic stats on all 237 of this year’s Chicago homicides, but for a rough approximation I plotted the locations of last weekend’s shootings as reported here. I have marked them with big black dots on a map of the city. Eyeball that alongside a demographic map, and with one exception up there in the 46th Ward, they all occurred in heavily black or Hispanic neighborhoods.

http://www.suntimes.com/news/huntley/13688166-452/islamist-threat-is-real-and-growing.html
Excerpt: Israel sits squarely on the front line of the war by Islamist fanaticism against the West. The Jewish state for decades has been the lone outpost for democratic government and its values in the Middle East. It has also been America’s most trusted and reliable ally in a troubled part of the world.

The attack was very likely carried out by the al Qaeda and Taliban-linked Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.

Excerpt: The new Greek finance minister, Yannis Stournaras, until recently a professor of economics at the University of Athens, hasn't learned yet the art of extortion that is required to accomplish anything at all during negotiations with the Eurozone. And so, when he went to the meeting of Eurozone finance ministers earlier this week at the Eurogroup-which serves as political control over the common currency-he accomplished absolutely nothing. He wasn't even able, unlike his predecessors, to get himself into the media with some wild threat about a "disorderly default" or destroying the entire Eurozone if he didn't get what he wanted.

Obama Took Cash From Bain Outsourcing Execs
Excerpt: Barack Obama’s campaign has been quick to rip Mitt Romney for his association with Bain Capital, which outsourced certain jobs during restructuring of companies. There’s only one problem: many of the very executives who were running Bain Capital during the 1999-2002 period now under media scrutiny donated to Obama’s presidential campaign. And Obama was more than happy to cash the checks.

Excerpt: Two of the senators who pushed an investigation into a suspected Interior Department cover-up of the White House fudging scientific conclusions to justify the gulf drilling moratorium are now fighting the administration’s plan to stymie exploration and production on the outer continental shelf. On the same day that the nation’s attention was turned toward the ObamaCare ruling at the Supreme Court, the Obama administration was quietly issuing a five-year energy proposal that would place a virtual moratorium over 85 percent of the nation’s offshore areas.

American Bridge specializes in “opposition research,” the art and science of gathering dirt on one’s political opponents.

The ‘Pre-Existing Condition’ Hoax In Obamatax
Excerpt: With ObamaTax, the left has chosen a big government policy that will offer a very brief period of health care access to individuals with pre-existing conditions, followed by little or no access to care as Americans cope with long lines to see doctors. They will soon face an Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), a group of unelected government bureaucrats, who, as their name says, will be more concerned with payment than health care……To be blunt, the IPAB will decide if it’s worth it for funds to be spent on care for someone who requires much of it yet may never get well, as opposed to someone who is likely to recover and be “useful to society.”

Obama Goes For Kill Shot With Nasty Anti-Romney Ad—Update: Romney Condemns
Excerpt: The "Uncle Jims" reference comes from a quote from the President in Virginia yesterday:
So just in case some of your friends or neighbors, or Uncle Jim, who’s a little stubborn and been watching FOX News -- (laughter) -- and he thinks that somehow I raised taxes -- let’s just be clear: We’ve lowered taxes for middle-class families since I came into office. Excerpt: Here’s another way to measure his prolific fundraising: West raised more money this quarter than most Senate candidates – including incumbents (like home state Sen. Bill Nelson) and those in some of the most competitive Senate races in the nation. There aren’t many other House members who can generate that kind of cash or the same level of devotion.

George Schultz: Memo to Romney: Expand the Pie. By Robert L. Pollock, New York Times
Excerpt: "I'll give you an example. [Reagan] knew and we all advised him you can't have a decent economy with the kind of inflation we've got. . . . The political people would come in and say 'You've got to be careful, Mr. President. There's gonna be a recession [if the Federal Reserve tightens the money supply]. You're gonna lose seats in the midterm election.' "And he basically said, 'If not us who? If not now when?'

Worth Reading: This Youth Movement Has Women Covered. By Mark Steynhttp://www.ocregister.com/opinion/young-363612-muslim-world.html
Excerpt: In humdrum reality, [Barack Obama's] idea of the future doesn't seem to be any more futuristic than the pre-Thatcher statist wasteland of Britain in the Seventies [I wuz there! Kate], but that didn't stop the massed ranks of fresh-faced youth chanting "We are the Hopeychange!" in adoring if glassy-eyed unison behind him at every campaign rally. Four years later, half of recent graduates can't find full-time employment; Americans' college debt is now larger than credit card debt; the number of young people with summer jobs is at a record low; and men in their late twenties and early thirties trudge upstairs every night to the same bedroom in which they slept as a kindergartner.

The national study, by Northwestern University researchers, has found some agencies recruit random strangers from Craigslist to care for older people with dementia. Some don't do national criminal background checks or drug testing, fudge the qualifications of caregivers and don't require any experience or provide training.

No loonies need apply for GOP veep. By Carl Hiaasen
Excerpt: Prevailing cable punditry says Romney is going to pick someone “safe,” meaning dull, white and male. The candidate will have more experience holding public office than Palin did, and he’ll likely hail from an important swing state where moose don’t outnumber independent voters. That’s why [Florida's] Rubio is still in the VP mix.

Prices for this year’s corn crop, deliverable in December, have jumped 44 per cent in a month, wheat has rallied 45 per cent, and soyabeans 17 per cent. (Thank the drought and the ethanol-loving Greenies. ~Bob.)
