NEBRASKA - JON BRUNING IS NO CONSERVATIVE- SUPPORT DON STENBERG FOR U.S. SENATE

Fellow Conservatives:

I'm writing to share some very troubling news regarding one of the candidates in the race for U.S. Senate in Nebraska.

According to a report at RedState, Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning supported Obama's nomination of Eric Holder as U.S. Attorney General. In fact, Bruning lobbied the Senate to confirm Holder and signed a letter praising him for his "fairness and balance". Now, Jon Bruning is standing by his decision to back Eric Holder.

As you know, Eric Holder had a well-established record of hostility toward the Second Amendment and was intimately involved in Bill Clinton's dubious pardon of Marc Rich. That is why 21 Republicans voted against Holder's confirmation in 2009.

But for some reason, Jon Bruning overlooked these flaws and endorsed one of the most radical liberals of our time to be the top law enforcement officer in the country.

Bruning ducked questions about this for weeks until a local talk radio host recently cornered him. Bruning's response was more shocking than his initial support. Jon Bruning defended his decision to back Eric Holder!

Stop the Eric Holder Republican

Rather than admit it was a mistake, Bruning defended his support for Holder and explained how he did it to appear "reasonable" and to win "goodwill" with the Obama Administration.

This is exactly why so many Americans distrust the Republican Party. Too many Republicans like Jon Bruning believe that if we can't beat them, we should join them. They're simply unwilling to fight for conservative principles.

It was a huge mistake for Bruning to endorse Eric Holder. Doing so to win goowill with the most radical Justice Department in history was naive and it demonstrated a serious lack of judgement.

Unfortunately, the story doesn't end there. A few days later, news broke that Jon Bruning also supported Tom Perez as Assistant Attorney General and head of the DoJ's Civil Rights Division. Tom Perez was a lawyer for Ted Kennedy, worked for the Clinton Administration, and was a volunteer for CASA de Maryland, a leftist advocacy group for illegal aliens that is funded by George Soros and Hugo Chavez.

And as many of you know, Tom Perez was confirmed and is now leading the lawsuit against the voter ID law in Texas. This man is a radical with no respect for the rule of law.

When asked about his support for Perez, Jon Bruning defended his decision and explained how he had gotten to know Perez on a bipartisan trip overseas and said, "You know, I think a little bit of goodwill here and there ... is not going to be the end of the Republic like my opponents say. I do think we need to find out from time to time how to work with each other."

Tell that to the family of the border patrol agent who lost his life because of the "Fast and Furious" guns-to-Mexico program.

Stop the Eric Holder Republican

If Jon Bruning is elected to the Senate, how many more radical nominations will he support to appear reasonable and to win goodwill? And how long before he begins to support bad legislation as a way to work with Democrats?

We need true conservatives in the Senate who actually believe in the principles of freedom that make this country great and have the courage to stand up for those principles.

The primary election in Nebraska is on May 15 so we don't have much time. Freedom-loving Americans across the nation need to unite behind Don Stenberg and send a true conservative leader to the U.S. Senate.
