This is why we need more leaders in Congress like Allen West. While the liberals in the mainstream media are busy trying to score points with their foreign colleagues and big-government patrons in the Democrat Party, Rep. West very succinctly reminds us not only of the danger faced by the troops we've sent to battle, but also of how awful the tasks are that we routinely ask them to perform.
Unfortunately, this is exactly why he's being targeted by the left for defeat in November. Allen West is a truth-teller - a rarity in modern day Washington! He's willing to stand up for America and for his conservative values, and he's willing to tell America's detractors exactly what you and I wish we could: to sit down and shut up!

There's been a lot of discussion by the mainstream media about an internet video purportedly depicting US Marines urinating on the bodies of Taliban combatants in Afghanistan.
The liberal media has done exactly what you would expect: denigrated our troops, lambasted US foreign policy, and claimed that this is why the terrorists want to kill Americans.
Thankfully, Rep. Allen West, an Army combat veteran who retired as a Lt. Colonel after 22 years of service, once again called to the carpet critics of a strong US military. In an email to The Weekly Standard, West listed a number of very public instances in which American troops were subjected to torture, executed, or had their bodies desecrated. He went on to say:

Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.
