Peter Roskam (R-IL) provides examples of job creators facing “government barriers to job creation” including “our unsustainable debt, the constant threat of higher taxes, and excessive regulations.” Speaker Boehner also addressed these challenges in his address on “Liberating America's Economy,” and said Republicans are focused on removing government obstacles to private-sector job growth. Watch the address by Rep. James A. Rubright with Rock-Tenn Company testified to Congress that “the current wave of regulations is unsustainable,” and that “living with such an uncertain regulatory environment not only costs current jobs, but also prevents new jobs from being created.”  Tom DeWitt with Swanson Industries told lawmakers “the biggest hurdle we face is the regulatory uncertainty.”  A new video from the House Financial Services Committee shows how excessive government regulations make it harder for small businesses to create new jobs. GOP Seeks Common Ground but Says President Obama's Proposals “Are a Poor Substitute for the Pro-Growth Policies” Needed to Create Jobs Speaker Boehner told Bloomberg TV “there are some areas where I think we can find common ground” with the White House on removing government barriers to job growth. But “the president's proposals,” said the Speaker, “are a poor substitute for the pro-growth policies that are needed to remove barriers to job creation in America.” One example of common ground: the bipartisan bill signed by the president last week that modernizes America's patent system is part of the Republican Plan for America's Job Creators.
