ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IGNORED IN DEBT DEBATE
Lawmakers in Washington have chosen to forget immigration is a discretionary social policy designed to be adjusted to serve the nation’s broad national interest, particularly during difficult economic times. The discretionary policy is a powerful economic tool, but only when used. Reforming immigration would tighten the labor market, open up jobs to U.S. residents, and reduce the overall fiscal drain that illegal immigrants are having on health care, education and other social services around the country.
