If Obama was really concerned with job creation, he would curb the impact that the EPA has on implementing regulations. It USED TO BE that Congress would pass laws and the EPA would enforce them... however, thanks to Barack Obama, the EPA now creates its own regulations and forces them on consumers and businesses.
A recent survey published by the American Enterprise Institute shows 51% of businesses blame the EPA for regulatory barriers.
We're now forced to buy what the EPA tells us to buy. We have to buy toxic light bulbs because the EPA claims they're better for the environment. We're told to buy hybrid cars that are too expensive and more hazardous than non-hybrids.
They've restricted drilling, so now gas prices are skyrocketing. They're working to ban lead from ammunition and fishing tackle and have ignored a petition against the regulation.
The EPA has become an overlord, deciding what businesses can prosper and which can fail. If a business doesn't abide by their rules, or doesn't create the products they say, then that business cannot prosper.

Creating legislation based on the absurd notion of global warming has been the greatest burden on the agricultural sector, as well as the rest of the country. A report from the National Center for Public Policy Research claims that regulating greenhouse gasses could send the economy back into a recession---and it seems to be happening.

Furthermore, the regulations could reverse the economy's direction toward recovery and push us back into an economic slump." |
Starting this year, the EPA will implement standards for power plants and refineries.
The EPA has been given the power to regulate greenhouse gasses under the Clean Air Act. These regulations will cost the economy jobs, as businesses demonized by the EPA will be forced to retrofit their facilities with equipment that the EPA deems acceptable. Not only that, but "the U.S. economy will also stand to lose millions of jobs as energy prices soar and industry is forced to cut back or invest overseas," the report said.

We simply cannot afford the EPA's regulations. Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) and Representative Fred Upton (R-MI)---as well as four Democrats---have introduced legislation that would ban the EPA from using its authority to regulate greenhouse gasses.
The EPA is trying to grab power where it should not have. Congress is in charge of these important decisions, not a government agency that is not elected by the people.

In 1976, Congress passed the Toxic Substance Control Act, but specified that lead ammunition was exempted. However, the EPA is now claiming that the law only refers to cartridges and shells, and not bullets or shot.
They claim that bullet fragments harm the environment, even though there is no scientific evidence to support this. In fact a 2008 study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that consuming game shot with traditional ammunition did not pose a health risk.
Moreover, banning traditional ammunition would cause far more harm to the environment than what is claimed to be caused by the lead itself. An 11% federal excise tax paid on ammunition is a primary source of wildlife conservation funding. Endangered animals have made great recoveries because of hunters using traditional ammunition and paying that excise tax.

Senators Jon Tester (D-MT) and John Thune (R-SD), as well as Representatives Jeff Miller (R-FL) and Mike Ross (D-AR) are introducing legislation that will prevent the EPA from banning traditional ammunition and fishing tackle. Congress never gave the EPA the authority to regulate ammunition or fishing tackle, and it's time to remind them of that fact.
A ban on traditional ammo won't just affect hunters and sportsmen, but also law enforcement, the military and target shooters. It would but a huge strain on ammunition and tackle manufacturers who would have to switch to non-toxic, EPA approved, ammunition creation.
The EPA has gotten into the business of controlling what we buy. Gone are the days where we could less than a dollar for a single light bulb. Gone are the days where a soft glow safely warms you from a distance. Now, thanks to the EPA, we are going to be forced to pay about $4 for one light bulb... thanks to the EPA-enforced compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).
Not only are they more expensive, but they are dangerous. Each bulb contains small amounts of mercury, a neurotoxin. If you break a bulb in your house, you have to call the Poison Control hotline, ventilate the area and keep pets and children far away.
Remember when all you had to do with a broken light bulb was sweep it up and throw it away?
Now you have to call in the HAZMAT team.

Hybrid cars cost on average $3500 to $6000 MORE than comparable models, and you won't save that difference in fuel for AT LEAST 15 years.
The average person only keeps the same car for about 6 years. Even if you did own the hybrid for the 15 years it would take you to save in fuel, the car would be obsolete. You'd finally save the money, but it would be time to buy a new car. How is that helping you, the American citizen?
Making an engine for a hybrid car actually causes MORE pollution than making an engine for a regular vehicle. We can't be expected to spend an entire year's salary on a vehicle that just isn't economical... but Obama and the EPA don't care, they are intent on forcing their worldview on every single American and they don't care about the consequences.
With all the regulations keeping our economy from growing, it's a wonder the EPA is still allowed to operate. We need to STOP them from hampering our economy even further. It's time to ban the EPA, before they ban American progress completely.
