Al-Jazeera Exposed as Homeland Security Threat; Rep. Peter King Urged to Hold Hearings As Rep. Peter King opens hearings on the dangers posed by radical Islam in America, the public policy group America’s Survival, Inc. (ASI) is urging a probe into the operations of foreign propaganda channels, led by Al-Jazeera, on American soil. “Al-Jazeera’s anti-American programming already has a dangerous foothold in the United States,” noted ASI President Cliff Kincaid, “and it is seeking to expand to millions of homes through a deal with the cable giant Comcast. Any such deal would pose an unacceptable danger to American citizens by further adding to the potential for home-grown Jihadists inspired by Al-Jazeera’s inflammatory programming.” Kincaid noted that American victims of the terrorist channel have filed suit against Al-Jazeera for its role in facilitating Hezbollah rocket attacks on Israel during the 2006 Israeli-Hezbollah conflict. A suit now being heard in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in Manhattan seeks $1.2 billion in damages on behalf of the family of David Martin Lelchook, an American citizen murdered in the Hezbollah rocket barrage, and other Americans and Israeli and Canadian citizens injured or killed in the attacks. Terrorists have been captured in Iraq who said they came to kill Americans because of the words and images on Al-Jazeera. Kincaid asked, “Could the same thing happen here if Al-Jazeera English reaches more American Muslims who don’t speak Arabic with inflammatory words and images making America out to be the enemy and villain in the Middle East?” Senator Susan Collins of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has said, “Between May 2009 and November 2010, there were arrests made in 22 ‘homegrown’ plots by American citizens or legal permanent residents. By comparison, in the more than seven years from September 11, 2001, through May 2009, there were 21 such plots.” Kincaid declared, “What is needed is a congressional inquiry into whether Al-Jazeera, through its exposure to some Americans through the Internet and YouTube and some cable systems, is playing a role in this carnage.” He urged Rep. Peter King, chairman of the House Homeland Security committee, to take the lead. At an upcoming press conference, Kincaid is releasing a statement from Dr. Judea Pearl, father of slain journalist Daniel Pearl, about the pernicious influence of Al-Jazeera. “I have no doubt that, today, Al Jazeera is the most powerful voice of the Muslim Brotherhood, upon whom they can rely for full collaboration,” he says in the statement. Dr. Pearl also raises the specter of Al-Jazeera increasing the number of home-grown Jihadist incidents inside the U.S., saying, “…this danger is not to be taken lightly.” He warns against granting Al-Jazeera more carriage on U.S. cable and satellite systems. Al Anstey, managing director of Al-Jazeera English, has recently been meeting with cable providers such as Comcast to demand more media access. Kincaid urged concerned Americans to contact Comcast CEO Brian Roberts through the Comcast corporate office telephone number of 215- 665-1700. The ASI press conference will also examine the activities of Moscow-funded Russia Today television on American soil. “’Russia Today’ is only a part of the Russian industry of misinformation and manipulation created recently in the USA by Putin’s KGB,” says former Soviet KGB officer Konstantin Preobrazhensky. One purpose of the press conference is to expose the fact that 30 public television stations around the U.S. are already airing Al-Jazeera and Russia Today in violation of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules. Florida broadcaster Jerry Kenney uncovered the scandal and filed the FCC complaint. He discovered that the foreign propaganda channels are being provided to public television through the MHz Networks division of the Virginia-based Commonwealth Public Broadcasting Corporation. Al-Jazeera is accused of intentionally provided real-time coverage of the locations of missile strikes inside Israel in violation of Israeli security regulations, thereby enabling Hezbollah to aim its missiles more accurately.
