NO- NO - NO TO CAP AND TRADE - NEVER!

ALERT:  Obama Recycles Cap and Trade
In a lackluster, duplicitous State of the Union Address that was full of recycled rhetoric, recycled politics, and recycled policy, President Obama did manage to surprise -- with his stubborn refusal to listen and learn from the American people.
Obama's biggest bad headline of the night was the return of Cap and Trade, in a proposal almost indistinguishable from the last version the American electorate overwhelmingly rejected!
When Obama was a presidential candidate, he admitted that under Cap and Trade, U.S. electric rates would "necessarily skyrocket." This is probably the most honest thing Obama has ever said, and his handlers never let him say it again. Still, as the public figured out that Cap and Trade really meant Cap and Tax, imposing a huge stealth energy tax on the American economy in the midst of a crippling and persistent recession, they mobilized furiously against it, and it went down in the Congress in flames.
Obama, however, never abandoned it, and he flatly told the Washington press corps: "Cap and Trade was just one way of skinning the cat; it was not the only way.  It was a means, not an end.  And I’m going to be looking for other means to address this problem."
What problem?  Why the bogus crisis of global warming alarmism, of course!
At the SOTU, he announced one "other means"-- an alarming proposal to restructure the entire U.S. electric power sector much as was attempted in the furiously rejected H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (ACESA), otherwise known to patriots as the infamous Waxman-Markey Cap and Trade bill.
Obama is already relentlessly pursuing an Executive Branch campaign to ‘legislate’ socialist energy and climate policies through the regulatory backdoor. Unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats answerable only to the Obama Administration and seemingly impervious to Congressional oversight and prerogatives are riding roughshod over America's energy-producing industries and We the People -- and now it looks to get a whole lot worse under a two-pronged attack from a "renewed" Cap and Trade onslaught directed by Emperor Obama himself.
In his SOTU address, Obama said:
"Now, clean energy breakthroughs will only translate into clean energy jobs if businesses know there will be a market for what they’re selling. So tonight, I challenge you to join me in setting a new goal: By 2035, 80 percent of America’s electricity will come from clean energy sources. (Applause.)
Some folks want wind and solar. Others want nuclear, clean coal and natural gas. To meet this goal, we will need them all — and I urge Democrats and Republicans to work together to make it happen." (Applause.)
Over at GlobalWarming.org, a top analyst worked the numbers and guess what?  Obama’s 80 percent ’clean energy’ target is virtually identical to the projected electric power sector fuel mix that was targeted under the failed Waxman-Markey bill.
Obama’s announced goal is 80 percent by 2035, while the emission-reduction target for the electric power sector under Waxman-Markey was 81 percent by 2030. So Obama just demanded, to Congressional applause, that Congress enact the justly hated and rejected Waxman-Markey Cap and Tax as a repackaged, "fool the voter" bill.
As Marlo Lewis at GlobalWarming.org puts it:
"Imagine if President Obama had said:  'I challenge you to join me in setting a new goal: By 2035, 80 percent of America’s electricity will come from clean energy sources. This will restructure the electric power sector the same way Waxman-Markey would have if Congress had passed it. It will also cause your electric rates to necessarily skyrocket. As I’ve said before, there’s more than one way to skin a cat.'
Such candor would not have won applause."
Indeed. Few in America think the federal government that is giving us our present dismal performance on border security, employment rates and fiscal solvency should now be allowed to exploit environmental climate alarmism, in order to take control over our master economic resource -- the energy sector.  NOW is the time to tell Congress and Obama: No More Government Take Overs!  NO Cap and Trade!
