A MOMENT IN TIME WHEN EACH AMERICAN MUST DECIDE...

By the rude bridge that arched the flood
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard ‘round the world.

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote the "Concord Hymn" in 1836 for the dedication of a battle monument in Concord, Massachusetts that commemorated the men who gave their lives at the Battle of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775, the first battles of the American Revolution.
And now, almost 236 years later, the Capital in Madison, Wisconsin is the North Bridge at Concord, it is Lexington Green.
The fed-coats are coming!
Minutemen, Tea Party, Patriots.  These are historic and cultural symbols that are revered by Americans, most of us anyway.  They are honored by Americans who understand our history; those who understand that world history was changed with our Declaration of Independence and successful revolution against England.
Some historians believe that July 4, 1776 is a demarcation in human history.
Minutemen groups organized in 2005 to expose the wide open Mexican border in an attempt to put pressure on the government to enforce the law.
Tea Party groups sprang into being all over the country in 2009 with messages that many hoped would bring fiscal responsibility to government.
Patriot organizations of various names have organized with the goal of preserving our great nation.

Just as The Boston Tea Party preceded Lexington and Concord by 20 months and The Boston Massacre  was 5 years prior, this current revolution was preceded by events that outraged the citizens.
Today, as in the Colonies of the late 1700s where Americans grew increasingly angry at the English government, citizens are increasingly angry at federal, state and local governments that seem to be incompetent at everything except spending borrowed money.
Massive government spending has heaped mountains of debt on generations of future Americans.
An unconstitutional healthcare bill that tears down the health insurance industry was signed into law with some legislators proclaiming they hadn’t even read it.
The election in November ousted an historic number of leftists from governments at all levels.
And, for anyone who remained unsure of the judgment and temperament of those on the left side of the political spectrum there was a massive and irrefutable reminder following the terrible shootings in Tucson of just how anti-democratic, hateful, immature and ill suited for governing the left really is.  And it continues to this day.
We are witnessing a modern American revolution that began, not surprisingly, in the states.  States in "fly over" country.
Arizona, suffering from an illegal alien crime wave caused by the federal government’s refusal to secure the borders, has taken action.  The citizens rose up and passed Proposition 200 in 2004. Then, the legislature passed SB 1070 in 2010 in the wake of the murder of rancher Rob Krentz by illegal alien Mexican drug thugs.  The fed-coats are attacking Arizona, in the courts, to thwart a constitutional law modeled on federal law.
Because of so many failures at the federal level, "States’ Rights" has become a focus of conversation in many state capitals.
It is important to remember that there isn’t one capital in this country, there are 51.  And some are important.  And the laboratory of democracy will provide interesting case studies.
In some Capitals, reigning in the out of control spending, public employee union entitlements and dealing with illegal immigration will produce good results for citizens and taxpayers.
In states like Illinois and Connecticut, for example, those in power will drive out business and capital with tax increases.
Let the chips fall where they may.  But, don't stay on the sidelines.  Get involved. Show those elected-to-the-public-payroll that you are involved.  Go the state capital, get on talk radio, jump to the computer keyboard and blog your opinion.
Remove the illegal aliens form the White House, build the fence crossed all of the boarder, man the fence with all of the power needed to save our nation. China built the great wall, Germany built the Berlin wall, why can't we build a wall to protect our country? screw Race-baiting my family and my country come first. My ancestors came here legally in the late 1790's, they helped build this great country into what it was before Roosevelt and free chickens in every pot.
The modern analogies:
  • The states are the colonies.
  • The liberal-leftists in the federal government are The Parliament of Great Britain (in a city named Washington, ironically)
  • The public employee union members are the Red Coats.
  • The internet, blogs, social media, talk radio and FOX News are the pamphleteers, the modern Thomas Paine's.
  • The Patriots are Patriots
  • The Tea Party is the Tea Party.
  • The Minutemen are the Minutemen.
  • Madison Wisconsin is Lexington and Concord
  • Ballot boxes are the muskets and,
  • Gov. Scott Walker has fired the shot heard ‘round our world.
America is at a crossroads, perhaps not THE crossroads, but A crossroads to be sure.  The future of the country is being determined right now and it is by no means certain.
We can, and we must, make these changes non-violently and using the democratic machinery bequeathed us by Americans who came before us.  Keep that in mind, then jump in.
If not now, when?  If not here, where?  If not us...who?
The future awaits.

Rick Oltman is the founder of The Immigration Tea Party.
