California legislator files Arizona-style immigration bill | |
Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, R-Twin Peaks, would make it a crime in California to be in the country illegally in a bill he proposed that is similar to Arizona’s SB 1070. This bill would end “sanctuary cities” and require all employers to use E-Verify, a free, federal program that is Internet-based and allows employers to check the eligibility of potential employees to work in the U.S. It also would make it a misdemeanor to be in the country illegally and increase the penalty for those convicted of human-trafficking into California for the purpose of sex slavery. |
