NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICTDear Friend, This month’s key inflation index came in at 8.2%, which is higher than expected. Meanwhile, President Biden and Democrats refuse to admit America’s recession. Biden said in a recent interview:
“I don’t think there will be a recession. If it is, it will be a very slight recession. That is, we’ll move down slightly. [...] Look, it’s possible. I don’t anticipate it.”
However, America has been in a recession since July. What will it take for Democrats to accept that their policies are failing?
The average American household currently spends over $700 monthly on goods and services. Rent also increased 0.8% this month, the largest index increase since June 1990, and health insurance increased over 28% this past year. Inflation is outpacing wages and getting worse each month.
It's time for President Biden and Democrats to accept that America cannot afford the Left’s radical agenda. Please read about my week below:

A Recap of My Week Visiting Coca-Cola Facility in Panama City
I toured Coca-Cola’s sales and distribution facility in Panama City this past week. Our district is fortunate to have a wide array of economic opportunities. Many of the companies throughout Florida-02 invest financially AND personally in our region. They do everything from sponsoring local little league teams to helping distribute supplies following major disasters like Hurricane Michael. Coca-Cola Bottling Company United’s economic and community impact is second to none. I appreciate all their team does for our district.

Here’s What I’m Supporting
Fairness for Responsible Borrowers Act (H.R. 8496)- This bill generally prohibits the Departments of Education, Justice, and the Treasury from taking any action to cancel or forgive the outstanding balances, or portion of balances, of covered loans. The prohibition does not apply to targeted federal student loan forgiveness, cancellation, or repayment programs carried out under the Higher Education Act of 1965.
TCJA Permanency Act (H.R. 8913) – This bill would make provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act affecting individuals, families, and small businesses permanent.
Protecting Farmers from the SEC Act (H.R. 9063) - This bill would prohibit the SEC from requiring public companies to disclose Scope 3 emissions from farms. This bill addresses concerns of farmers and ranchers that do business with public companies.

The Internal Revenue Service warned taxpayers of a recent increase in IRS-themed texting scams aimed at stealing personal and financial information.
So far in 2022, the IRS has identified and reported thousands of fraudulent domains tied to multiple MMS/SMS/text scams (known as smishing) targeting taxpayers. In recent months, especially in the last few weeks, IRS-themed smishing has increased exponentially.

Married physicians who were both scheduled to present at a prestigious medical conference overseas didn’t realize their 5-year-old child’s passport had only four months of validity left. The requirement is six months when traveling internationally in most cases. The couple could not secure an in-person passport appointment prior to their departure date, so they contacted my office. We worked with the National Passport Information Center to schedule an in-person appointment, and a passport was issued the same day. Do you need help with a federal agency?
