Dear Friend, It’s hard to remain optimistic when most news headlines are dismal. I want to encourage you to focus on the good things going on right now. Here are a few good news stories from our district that will surely help you through the rest of the week -- | 11-year-old Isaiah Money recently approached an older man wearing a Vietnam Veteran cap in the Wakulla Walmart parking lot to help him with loading his groceries. When the veteran politely declined, Isaiah stuck around to chat with the man and then took his empty cart back to the cart return. His generous actions were recognized by Trent Sexton, an officer with the Tallahassee Police Department who lives in Wakulla, on Facebook and is receiving a tremendous amount of praise. Read more here. | Thirteen children recently participated in the Young da Vinci Free Summer Art Program at Gateway Art Gallery in Lake City, where they created their own oil pastel art pieces showcasing the artistic technique of echoism, bringing their thoughts of sunshine, flowers, butterflies, and other colorful ideas to life. This was a great opportunity to foster creativity and expression. Thank you to all who helped put this program together! Read more here. | The wait staff and cooks at a Panama City restaurant known as Firefly were rewarded for their hard work with a $1,000 tip, according to a Facebook post. In the post, the restaurant owner said: “This incredible guest wanted to make sure the men and women on the cooking line got taken care of! It's been a long, hard summer for the staff in the kitchen.
