NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICTDear Friend, This past week, Governor Ron DeSantis announced a new treatment plan where the state will start dispensing Regeneron monoclonal antibodies through mobile clinics. I’m a big supporter of the Regeneron monoclonal antibodies, and this treatment has proven to be one of the most effective for patients with COVID-19. This is an outstanding idea and I commend the Governor and our state officials for actively working to increase access to this life-saving treatment.
Critics on the Left want you to believe that the only way to handle COVID-19 is through federal mandates and hysteria. However, if we want to effectively save lives, we must continue to educate the public about the vaccine and promote the excellent therapeutics we now have thanks to Operation Warp Speed. The Biden Administration and Speaker Pelosi have politicized this pandemic enough. It’s time to give the people what they need to combat this deadly virus and prioritize saving lives over partisan politics.
On Thursday evening, I talked about this with Rob Schmitt on Newsmax. If you would like to watch the interview and hear more about why I will not support federal mask or vaccine mandates, click here. Read about my week:
This Week in the District Updates for Veterans What’s Happening on Capitol Hill Coronavirus Updates
This Week in the District Touring Syntech Systems
On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to tour Syntech Systems in Tallahassee. Syntech Systems prides itself on developing all American-made products for the Armed Forces. This team is doing an exceptional job securing and automating government and commercial fuel markets, and I appreciate them sharing with me their ideas to best spur innovation. Thank you all for having me!
The Bay County Economic Development Alliance
On Wednesday morning, I joined the Bay County Economic Development Alliance at their monthly investors meeting. During the meeting, I shared with them a brief legislative update, a COVID-19 update, and information about the F35 program moving to Tyndall AFB.
This group cares deeply about the future of Bay County and has played an instrumental part in getting the community back on its feet following Hurricane Michael. Thank you all for letting me join you! It’s always a pleasure.

Call 800-273-8255 What’s Happening on Capitol Hill GOP Doctors Caucus
This past week, members of the GOP Doctors Caucus and House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy sent a letter to the Attending Physician regarding his recent mask mandate for the U.S. House of Representatives.
The GOP Doctors Caucus, in partnership with Republican Leadership, has repeatedly encouraged our constituents, colleagues, and the American public to consult with their physicians about getting vaccinated. Our U.S. vaccines are highly effective, and severe breakthrough symptomatic cases are exceedingly rare. As of July 26th, of the over 163 million Americans who have been vaccinated, there have been fewer than 5,000 hospitalizations related to breakthrough cases. This represents only 0.003% of vaccinated individuals in America.
That is why we are concerned with the messaging coming from officials in Washington, including through the most recent mask mandate in the House. At the time the recent mask mandate was issued, none of the studies cited by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) provided evidence that vaccinated individuals in the U.S. are likely vectors for viral transmission. We encourage the Attending Physician to put forward future medical recommendations with documented evidence, transparency, and bipartisan communication.
By enacting mask mandates without sufficient evidence, we risk jeopardizing the credibility of the COVID-19 vaccine. These mandates are counterproductive.
You can read a copy of the letter here. Coronavirus Updates Get Vaccinated
Floridians 12 and up are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as prescribed by the Food and Drug Administration. The Pfizer vaccine is authorized for persons age 12 and up. The Moderna vaccine is authorized for persons age 18 and up.
I encourage you to schedule an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine. The State of Florida has partnered with Sharecare to provide an easy-to-use platform that will save your spot for your shot. Schedule your appointment here. Florida has many sites providing the COVID-19 vaccine. Use the vaccine finder to find a site near you. Supplies are limited and appointments may be required.

Constituent Casework Corner
After receiving orders to be stationed in Germany, a constituent worked with their branch of service to have the Special Issuance Agency (SIA) issue their newborn child a passport. After repeated delays by SIA and having to leave their family behind to report in Germany, the constituent contacted my office. We were able to work with SIA to have the passport finalized and shipped as soon as possible so the family could be reunited. Do you need help with a federal agency?
