Greetings from Washington, D.C., where the focus has turned to the epic confirmation battle to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court. The entire Heritage enterprise is mobilized to support President Trump’s nominee, Judge Amy Coney Barrett. That includes educating the public on the nominee and the process, as well as a new online grassroots campaign urging senators to stand up to the angry mob trying to block Barrett’s confirmation. See all this and more in this week’s Agenda. ‘An Outstanding Choice for the Supreme Court’ President Donald Trump’s nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court received widespread praise—including from two Heritage Foundation leaders who were at the White House event Saturday. President Kay C. James called Barrett “an outstanding choice” and said the Senate should “move swiftly with the confirmation process.” You can read Mrs. James’ statement here. Heritage Launches Grassroots Campaign for Amy Coney Barrett’s Confirmation The left has already shown they will stop at practically nothing to block the nomination of a conservative to the Supreme Court. Now they are openly threatening violence. As Americans, it’s time we stood up to these bullying tactics for the sake of our democracy. “The Senate must not give in to threats,” says Heritage President Kay C. James. “Appeasement only makes tyrants more aggressive.” To counter these threats, The Heritage Foundation launched a new online grassroots campaign—Take a Stand for the Supreme Court—where you can make your voice heard. Sign a petition, post a message to social media, and tell the public and the Senate that you stand with Judge Amy Coney Barrett. Read more about the campaign and what you can do to help see this nomination through before the election. Ben Shapiro Turns to Heritage for Supreme Court Analysis John Malcolm, vice president of Heritage’s Institute for Constitutional Government, appeared on the Ben Shapiro Show last week to lend his expertise about the Supreme Court confirmation battle ahead. The two discussed everything from Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s legacy to the mounting threats that Democrats have issued over replacing Ginsburg before the election. “We certainly live in turbulent times. HAPPENING AT HERITAGE The online version of The New York Times’ Pulitzer Prize-winning “1619 Project” was quietly edited after considerable pushback from conservatives, including multiple Heritage Foundation scholars. Learn more about Heritage’s impact. UPCOMING WEBINARS  TUESDAY at 11 a.m., Heritage will host a virtual event discussing the relationship between slavery and the Constitution as part of the Preserve the Constitution series. The discussion will feature Allen C. Guelzo, a visiting fellow for the Simon Center for American Studies; Lucas Morel, professor of politics at Washington and Lee University; Sean Wilentz, professor of American history at Princeton University; and Timothy Sandefur, vice president for litigation at the Goldwater Institute. Register for the webinar. This event will feature an introduction by James Carafano, vice president of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute, followed by a discussion with H.E. Javlon Vakhabov, Uzbekistan ambassador to the U.S. and Canada, and H.E. Farhod Salim, the ambassador of Tajikistan to the U.S. Register for the webinar.
