GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICTThis year has been full of challenges and hardships. Rest assured, perseverance and positivity will prevail. Here is some good news to start your weekend off with: Help is on the way for homeless families and their children in Bay County. The Florida Housing Finance Corporation has agreed to award $500,000 to Bay County to help homeless families with school-aged children get housing and other services. These funds will help these families with providing rent assistance, academic support for their children, and much more with the goal of ensuring those affected will secure long-term housing. Providing stable ground for our youth to stand on is of the utmost importance – especially now. Dixie County will be receiving increased access to telehealth to provide mental health services for schoolchildren. The money is available from the federal CARES Act stimulus funding and will be directed to rural counties throughout Florida. You can read the full article here.
Hurricane Sally relief has been approved by President Trump for our areas affected by the storm. This relief covers all categories of public assistance for hard-hit counties, including eight of our own.
