GOOD NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT

Dear friend,
Those that perform good deeds use their strength to help those who currently need a helping hand. This allows for individuals who received help to be better equipped to pay it forward. I am proud of our district and I am proud to share these stories each week in order to shine a spotlight on the outstanding generosity and kindness in each community.

In these times of uncertainty, it is easy to lose track of progress. Florida State University’s football team has been working hard both on and off the field to strengthen their team and their community by adopting Riley Elementary for one of their service projects. On Wednesday, members of the team and Coach Norvell helped beautify the Riley Elementary campus for the students and teachers. You can read the full article here.

In Bay County, another food drive is expected on Saturday, July 18th for those who have been impacted by the secondary effects of the pandemic. The Bay County Board of County Commissioners have partnered with Rebuild Bay County, Inc., Feeding the Gulf Coast, the LEAD Coalition of Bay County, and more to host a no-contact food distribution. The event will take place at the Bay County Government Center in Panama City from noon until the food runs out. You can read the full article here.

Over two dozen volunteers gathered this week to build a new home for Ronald Curry in Gulf County. Ronald’s home was severely damaged by Hurricane Michael. Various organizations saw the need for a new home, and quickly got to work. Other building projects will continue throughout the year in hopes to “build back better”. You can read the full article here.
