The good news is the judge dismissed six of the fifteen felony criminal charges against pro-life citizen journalist David Daleiden stemming from his undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood, leaving him facing nine felony counts. The bad news is the California Attorney General added a tenth felony charge at David’s arraignment. And the really bad news is that David may have to stand trial before another San Francisco jury which will decide whether he spends a decade locked away in a state penitentiary. And another nasty civil case brought by a baby body parts broker, Stem Express, in Los Angeles was dismissed. Right now we’re defending David in four other active cases. In one federal civil lawsuit, a jury just found David liable and awarded Planned Parenthood over $2 million on the RICO (racketeering) charges, which the Judge just trimmed down to around $1.7 million, but now he has permanently banned David from doing any more undercover journalism against Planned Parenthood and he will now go on almost certainly to add millions more in attorneys' fees on top of the judgment already awarded against David. In another lawsuit filed by the National Abortion Federation, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has refused to lift the preliminary "gag order" injunction prohibiting David from releasing any more of his videos exposing the abortion giant's evil. David also faces another civil lawsuit filed by anonymous Planned Parenthood personnel in federal court up in Seattle, where we just achieved a partial victory in our second appeal, which should now entitle David to see public records of taxpayer-funded transactions involving abortionists' sales of aborted babies' body parts to middle-man brokers and then to the University of Washington's fetal research clearinghouse for resale to other laboratories around the United States. We've also just filed a federal civil rights lawsuit for David in Los Angeles, taking former California Attorney General Kamala Harris and incumbent Xavier Becerra to task and calling them to account for prosecuting David in bad faith twisting and perverting California's anti-eavesdropping law in an unprecedented persecution of a citizen journalist by reason of his disfavored poliltical views. This offensive tactic is a key part of our defense, as we could no longer let David suffer such a trampling of his free speech and due process rights without a counterattack. But Planned Parenthood has millions of dollars to spend on lawyers and lobbyists -- and they'll stop at nothing to silence David and prevent the truth from coming out.
