FLORIDA - JOE HARDING WEEKLY UPDATE 05/22/2020

WEEKLY UPDATE

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
Benjamin Franklin
Memorial Day, as we honor and remember those who paid the ultimate price for our country, is the perfect time to reflect on these words of Benjamin Franklin. Quite simply, we would not have a country—and certainly not the greatest country in the history of the world—without the Americans who bravely gave their lives wearing our nation’s uniform. They gave up their safety to secure our liberty.

Now, in the wake of the coronavirus shutdown, we are fighting to regain the liberty we gave up in hopes of gaining temporary safety from the virus. Leaders are revealing their true colors: Do they believe in the Constitution—in the consent of the governed—or in the heavy hand of government to control the people? Do they believe rights come from government or from God?

It is up to us to know the Constitution.

It is up to us to stand up to government overreach.

It is up to us to fight for the unalienable rights endowed to us by our Creator.
I believe it is possible for us to protect our right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness while also protecting those most vulnerable to COVID-19. Let’s honor the sacrifice of the men and women who died in service to our nation by not forsaking the rights they died to secure. We owe it to them and to future generations of Americans to not let our guard against tyranny down.

I’m so grateful for the beacon of freedom America has been since its founding. But we know freedom isn’t free. May we never forget it.
Joe

Paid by Joe Harding, Republican, for State Representative
