NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT
Dear Friend,
Thank you for your attention to CDC guidelines and Governor DeSantis' recent stay-at-home order as we work to fight this pandemic. Your safety and well-being is a priority. We are receiving more information about COVID-19 that will help us properly treat those affected and we are seeing resources and funds deployed for those who are in particular need of assistance. Last week, I joined WMBB and shared my thoughts on COVID-19. While it is easy to focus on the virus itself, I was delighted, but unsurprised to hear of the many ways my constituents are serving our communities during this time. I have included a number of resources and announcements that I hope you will find helpful as we continue navigating this time together.
Please read about my week below:
Discussing COVID-19 with WMBB Last week, I joined WMBB on Skype to discuss COVID-19. Click on the photo above to watch my interview.
Here are some key points that I discussed to keep in mind as we continue battling this pandemic: • We have more information on this virus now, which will help us fight it. • We are developing therapeutics to be used should we experience a second wave of cases in the fall. • Resources are available for struggling individuals and employers, and we can get the economy back up and running. • We are seeing an unpreceded response to COVID-19 from President Trump and his Administration.

IN THE NEWS
Constituent Casework Corner
A widow was receiving Survivor Benefits from the Social Security Administration (SSA), their only source of income, and without notice it just stopped. The widow contacted SSA who discovered a glitch in their system and said it was fixed. After another month passed and countless phone calls to SSA with no resolution, they contacted my office. We were able to work with SSA to have the system error corrected, the widow put back in pay status and the benefits released within two weeks.
