HELP SAVE MARYLAND - Wuhan Coronavirus Stops Maryland Sanctuary Legislation...For Now Anyway

Help Save Maryland - Help Save Maryland - Wuhan Coronavirus Stops Maryland Sanctuary Legislation...For Now Anyway

I hope all are doing well despite the extraordinary measures we are taking to keep our country and communities safe from this terrible virus. They say every cloud has a silver lining, and in this case the Maryland business shutdown and social restrictions have fortunately impacted our "enlightened leaders" in Annapolis as well.

The Maryland Legislative Session went on temporary hiatus earlier this month (Adjourned Sine Die - indefinite period), stopping at least three major Maryland sanctuary bills in their tracks:

-SB 850/HB 677 - Disallows law enforcement officers and local officials the ability to contract with private detention facilities (to hold illegal alien criminals).

-SB 901/HB 1612 - Provides immunity for government officials refusing to turn over information to federal government and other state governments regarding an individual's immigration status. Includes a host of other lawless, neo-Confederate actions.

-SB 903/HB 403 - Limits immigration enforcement in so-called "sensitive areas" such as schools, hospitals and courthouses.

The last bill on the list SB 903/HB 403, made the most progress during the session.  Odds are the pro-illegal alien forces in Annapolis will attempt to push this through should the legislative session come back to life later this year, post-Wuhan coronavirus.

Fortunately, the Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency frankly does not care what laws states pass on this particular subject.  ICE has made multiple highly visible public arrests in schools, hospitals and courthouses in states where these laws are in effect.  In these situations, federal authority trumps state laws.  Its called the Supremacy Clause, which is part of article VI of the Constitution.

So Annapolis illegal alien junkies, go for it if you must (and please don't try to add increased fuel emission standards for airlines, expansion of wind and solar tax credits or other "helpful" Wuhan Virus amendments like your compadres attempted in Congress)  At the end of the day, American citizens win the enforcement and removal issue regarding illegal aliens.

Another silver lining.  President Trump is doing his part during this crisis by ordering the Southern Border effectively sealed for public health reasons.  Illegal aliens trying to sneak in for whatever bogus reasons are being shipped back pronto to Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.  Last thing we need is for more illegal aliens to arrive at CASA of Maryland's doorstep at a time when we are concerned about the number of hospital beds, ventilators and the like for virus impacted Maryland citizens and legal immigrants.

So-Called Faith Leaders Made Last Ditch Attempt to Push Maryland Sanctuary Law

Sorry for the length of this letter and signature list below, which was published in the "nonpartisan and independent" Maryland Matters (snicker) .  It was so cringe worthy that it all had to be seen printed together.  The undersigned, self-named faith leaders and faith-based organizations, put together this pathetic, inaccurate trash and sent it to our legislators in Annapolis.  All in hopes of getting a positive vote on making Maryland a sanctuary state like California.

God help us that we have these domestic anarchists running free in our state pushing these falsehoods.  All seemingly more concerned about the rights of illegal aliens to freely enter our country, settle in Maryland and become effectively citizens without going through the well known legal process to get to America. Maryland citizens should be outraged by these uninformed, anti-citizen extremists and groups in our midst.

You should recognize some of these groups like Jews United for Justice. They love to protest for illegals outside the Baltimore ICE facility and were opposed to our huge Public Safety/Stop the Underage Rapes by Illegal Aliens rally in Rockville last September. Or how about Bend the Arc Jewish Action, which loves to "resist", supports all "immigrants" coming to Maryland and believes the Trump Administration is mainstreaming white nationalist ideology.  Yikes!

Most disturbing to me is that at least 20 of the 50 signers are fellow Jews/Jewish groups!  Totally misguided souls who somehow compare the Holocaust, the inability of Jews to easily escape Europe in WWII, concentration camps, and the wholesale roundup and slaughter of 6 million Jews by the Nazi regime with the situation in the U.S. that confronts border jumping illegal aliens from Mexico and Central America trying to enter our country illegally (no mention of the 1 million legal immigrants a year entering the U.S.).

These groups seemingly do no care about Maryland's MS-13 gangs and murders, crime, overcrowded schools, prostitution, drugs and abuse of social services and welfare by illegals with no moral or legal right to be in our country.

Lord help us from these faux faith based individuals and organizations.

"Letter: Faith Leaders Call on Legislature to Pass Sanctuary Bill Before Ending Session"

Dear Senate President Bill Ferguson, House Speaker Adrienne Jones, Senate Judicial Proceedings Chairman William Smith, and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Luke Clippinger:
We leaders of over 50 faith-based organizations and places of worship write with urgency to call for your support and leadership in passing the Maryland Trust Act (SB 901). The Trust Act is crucial legislation that will stop our state's participation in the unjust targeting of immigrants and undocumented persons by limiting state and local police cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, creating policies to make places like schools and hospitals safer for immigrants, and building community trust and safety for all.
Our faith communities, united together, feel deeply that this legislation aligns with our collective belief that we must care for our neighbors, regardless of their country of origin or pathway to residing here in Maryland. Our ethical and theological commitments compel us to publicly call for our legislators to act boldly and courageously to protect marginalized community members whose safety is our collective responsibility, especially now during the COVID-19 crisis.
We have grieved over the countless stories in our communities of parents who have been stripped away from their families, immigrants who have been abused and neglected in the poor conditions of immigration facilities, victims of crimes who are denied justice out of fear of deportation, sick people who are scared to seek medical care, and children who are left without parents. Our churches, synagogues, mosques, and organizations have done our part to provide a sanctuary for our neighbors, but our state must act as well.
The current administration's anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies deeply trouble us, as they destroy family unity and stray far from our core moral responsibilities as people of faith. The displacement of people caused by war, violence, and persecution have resulted in thousands of people who come to our nation seeking relief - many forced to live without documentation.
It is overdue for the General Assembly to act to protect our immigrant neighbors. Police collaboration with ICE has led to hostile environments for people of color and an increase in racial profiling that is simply wrong. We are disheartened and disturbed by the lack of moral leadership regarding policies to protect immigrants in our state, and ask that the General Assembly wait no longer to take action.
In this moment, where you are prioritizing legislation to pass before Sine Die on Wednesday, we ask that you consider not only the moral obligation we have to love and protect our neighbors, but also the safety of the community as a whole.
When victims and witnesses of crimes cannot trust the police and seek their protection, we all suffer the consequences. When people are afraid to seek treatment when ill, we all suffer the consequences. We will only restore public safety by rebuilding trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve - please keep our local and state law enforcement out of civil immigration enforcement.
We must match the determination of those who seek to dehumanize immigrants with our own persistent, steadfast love of our neighbors. Legislators, don't hesitate any longer. Pass the Maryland Trust Act now.
Sincerely,
