SERMON - GOD'S SABBATH IS HIS DAY

God’s Sabbath
His Day

Most of the churches that claim to be preaching Protestant Christianity are doing so as they follow the dictates of the Roman Catholic Church. They observe Sunday as God’s Sabbath where, in fact, Sunday is the first day of the week.

If you raise the question as to ‘Why,’ then I will tell you what I have learned through the Holy Spirit guiding my studies.

Daniel 7: 25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time.

If you will recall the sermons delivered based on the Book of Revelation you may recall that the Roman Catholic Church was one of the ‘horns’ of the Beast. The pertinent as it was at the bidding of the Roman Catholic Church that the Sabbath was moved to a Sunday.

The Catholic Church even went as far as to name Sunday, the FIRST day of the week, as the day to be observed in their effort to change the Third Commandment.  To them it is Sunday, and not the Sabbath, that is to be recognized as a day to be kept Holy. A review of The Catholic Encyclopedia will verify this statement. It is the claim of the Roman Catholic Church that such change “is a mark of its ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters.

Victor, as Bishop of Rome (Pope), in AD 196 compelled, “all to observe Passover on Sunday,” thereby changing the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. This is changing God’s Law.

A read of the Book of Daniel, a most prophetic Book, has many references to those who would think to change God’s Law with respects to many things and such include matters involving the Sabbath.

Acts 20: 28Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. 29  know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.

It would do you well, as a TRUE Christian to remind the Protestant Denominations, Presbyterian, Episcopal, Baptist, Methodist etc., that the Bible, God’s Word, does not support the observance of Sunday as God’s Sabbath, His Day of Rest. In doing so the join in with the Roman Catholic Church in altering the Bible, God’s UNALTERABLE Word.

If you ask, ‘Is it important to keep the true Sabbath,’ the answer is, without dispute, YES.  God, in the Book of Revelation gave a warning as His Word is above all others.

Revelation 14: 6Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people. 7He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water."

God is revealed as the MOST POWERFUL and no man, no matter his earthly standing (position) has any right, whatever, to alter God’s Word.

Exodus 20: 8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Throughout the Bible we see emphasis on the recognition of God as the Creator of all.

Revelation 4: 11"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being."

Psalms 96:  4 For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;
he is to be feared above all gods.  5 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
By keeping the Sabbath holy, as He commanded us, we show our love for Him and give recognition of His authority in our lives.

1 John 5: 1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands.

God is the SOLE AUTHORITY and no man can change His Word with there being no ramifications.

In issuing His warning in Revelation 14: 6-7 (above), He is telling any that will listen as Satan is deceiving most of the world into accepting his substitute and those who it is he they worship instead of the One True God.

Revelation 14: 9A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: "If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, 10he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.

We know what the Beast is and that he has infiltrated the hearts and minds of many religions claiming to be Christian yet continue to break God’s Commandment.  We must be willing to listen and return to God’s Way. God’s Word, the Bible, is clear in its meaning as those that worship the Beast will be lost….Forever!

2 Timothy 4: 3For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

As TRUE Christians we are to follow that teaching and observances of Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 11: 1Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

And. 1 Peter 2: 21To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

There is no doubt as to Jesus Christ observing the Sabbath as His Heavenly Father’s Day of Rest. In observing any other day there is the charge of changing God’s Law and I for one see no man as having that right!

2 Corinthians 11: 14And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.

With this said and in my attempts to lead each of you to TRUE Christianity I intend to deliver my sermons to you on the day that God set aside as His Day of Rest, that being the Sabbath.

(Closing prayer)

Father of us all, Creator of everything, we come to You and ask that You forgive our many shortcomings and for listening to men that have lead us astray. Lord, we honor and praise You and seek to obey Your Commands. We ask that you forgive our ignorance of Your will and forget our trespasses as You have told us You would. You are our God and there is no man that can alter Your Word.

Lord, Father, it is Your will to be done and we ask You to guide our paths as You send the Holy Spirit to illuminate our paths and open our eyes to all that is worthy of You. We would never knowingly offend You and for any and all offenses to You we ask Your forgiveness. It is You that we worship and no other.

Father, as we live our lives we are forever learning. We thank You for teaching us all that You do and for all that You provide. We are Your children and come to You and You alone.

Lord, we are always asking for Your protection and mercies for our elected officials, judges, police, security personnel and our brothers and sisters abroad and here at home. We also are asking for protection of our military. Father we thank You for such and want to openly make known our deepest appreciation and our gratitude for all that You do. Please continue all that You are doing and know that Your work in our lives is appreciated and our love is forever Yours.

We pray these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who is One with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever,

Amen, amen and amen.
