NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT
Dear Friend, This week, Democrats moved forward with their partisan impeachment scam and continued to demonstrate the baseless nature of this witch hunt. While they continued with their attempt to undo the 2016 election, I was supporting our men and women in uniform whose sacrifices and dedication to our great nation were recognized this past Monday.

Democrats held impeachment hearings this week in which it became even more striking that they have no evidence against President Trump. The three witnesses that were called to testify offered nothing more than heresay and rumors. They continue to conduct this investigation unfairly by denying other key witnesses and the White House's Counsel the ability to participate. The American people deserve transparency and the truth. Instead, Democrats in the House are wasting time and money with their partisan politics. Fighting for VeteransThis week, I voted in favor of H.R. 3224, the Deborah Sampson Act. This bill provides increased access to the Department of Veterans Affairs' medical care for our fastest growing segment of the veteran population, women veterans. While significant progress has been made by the VA in recent years to improve the delivery of care and benefits to women veterans, it is clear that the VA can and should do more to help identify and break down barriers to care for women. As Ranking Member of the Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Health and as a veteran myself, it is my distinct honor to support legislation of this nature.
ZERO Prostate Cancer [Click this photo to view my remarks]
ZERO is a national nonprofit working tirelessly to end prostate cancer. This week, I spoke at their briefing on the need for streamlined research to fight prostate cancer and the importance of early screening in detection and treatment. One in nine men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in their lifetime. It is also the most commonly diagnosed cancer among veterans. Accordingly, the Veterans Health Administration has been critical to innovation and research and I remain committed to supporting their advancement for our veterans. I was honored to have shared my enthusiasm for fighting prostate cancer with ZERO. Many thanks to Jamie Bearse and Mike Crosby for allowing me to participate and speak on this subject. Our veterans deserve our greatest efforts to get ahead of this disease. Thank you for your continued energy and enthusiasm, as reflected in your letters and Facebook posts. IN THE NEWS
Constituent Casework Corner
A veteran that lost part of their leg in Afghanistan had been trying for months to have a surgical procedure scheduled with the Department of Veterans Affairs in the hopes of preventing further amputation. Beyond frustrated, the veteran contacted my office. We were able to work with the VA to have a conference call that same day between the VA and the veteran which resulted in the surgery date being scheduled.
