NEWS FROM THE SECOND DISTRICT
Dear Friend, This week, I demanded transparency in the impeachment inquiry of President Trump, met with local leaders and students, and recognized the Cottondale FFA on their national achievements. Please read about my week below:
Impeachment Update [Click the photo to watch my floor remarks]
This week, I joined many of my colleagues in the House in demanding fairness and transparency in the outrageous impeachment proceedings against President Trump. Adam Schiff has refused to release to the public any of the transcripts and even refuses to let members of Congress into the hearings to hear them. Their goal has been impeachment since the 2016 election and they will use any means to get there. This is the only thing the House is doing instead of focusing on the issues that are important to the hardworking Americans across this nation. House Republicans are working to pass meaningful legislation, but are being stonewalled by Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats. I hope the American people will see this evil abuse of power for what it is the Democrats decision to choose partisan hatred of past President Trump over the welfare of this great nation. Local Leaders in Washington It was great to visit with Port St. Joe Vice Mayor David Ashbrook in Washington this week. We spoke about the importance of rebuilding washed out flood plains in the Panhandle, and improving infrastructure in Gulf County to protect our roads and waterways.
Florida State Student Government Meeting
This week I met with the Florida State University’s Student Government and heard from SGA President Evan Steinberg, SGA Governmental Affairs Director Anna Grace Lewis, Student Senator and Governmental Affairs Board Member Jonathan Levin, and Secretary of Co-Collegiate Affairs Nastassia Janvier. We discussed the importance of academic achievement through student led research in all fields of study at the FSU. These students have a bright future and are committed to keeping FSU a top notch university.
Cottondale Future Farmers of America
This week, I was able to recognize the Cottondale High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter for winning the 2019 state championship for both Agriculture Communication and Parliamentary Procedure. The team of Josh Scurlock, Addison Griffin, Taylor Dumas, Lillie Livingston, Blayton See, Carl Young, Joey Jackson and their Advisor Stan Scurlock did an outstanding job preparing and practicing for this competition. Good luck to the Cottondale High School FFA as they compete in the National FFA Convention next week!

ICYMI: 182 Members of Congress Cosponsor Motion to Censure Adam Schiff
Constituent Casework CornerAfter paying the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for the Premium Processing Service allowing expedited adjudication of their pending I-140, Petition for Alien Workers, for their EB-1 visa, the individual contacted my office when they could not obtain a status update. As a physician, they became extremely concerned about their patients care. My office was able to contact USCIS, confirm they received the payment and have the expedited adjudication honored.
