FREEDOM WORKS 06/30/2019 DEMOCRAT CANDIDATES SAY: '71% OF AMERICANS ARE WRONG!'

Either 71% of Americans Are Wrong or Dem 2020 Hopefuls Are -- My Money Is on the Dems

The moderators of Wednesday night’s Democratic presidential debate opened up with a simple statistic -- 71 percent of Americans believe the economy is going well. Here's how NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie put it in her question to Elizabeth Warren: "You have many plans -- free college, free child care, government health care, cancellation of student debt, new taxes, new regulations, the breakup of major corporations. But this comes at a time when 71 percent of Americans say the economy is doing well, including 60 percent of Democrats. What do you say to those who worry this kind of significant change could be risky to the economy?"
For the next few minutes, the Warren and the other candidates tried as hard as possible to explain exactly why 71 percent of Americans are wrong. The tone deafness from the Democratic field was a clear as Beto O’Rourke’s pre-rehearsed Spanish soundbites. Americans know better, and they know prosperity when they see it.

2020 Democrats Pledging Healthcare to Illegal Immigrants Paves Way for Trump Victory

Savannah Guthrie: "Raise your hand if your government-run health care plan would cover undocumented immigrants." As the current occupant of the White House implied shortly after that exchange, Guthrie may well have phrased her question in another way: “Who’s going to lose to Donald Trump next November?” The exchange clarified the leftward lurch of the Democratic Party, which may render the party unelectable.
Ironically enough, even as all Democrats supported giving coverage to illegally present foreigners, the candidates seemed less united on whether, how, and from whom to take health insurance away from U.S. citizens. Only Sens. Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders said they supported abolishing private health insurance, as Sanders’ single-payer bill would do (and as Sen. Elizabeth Warren and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio pledged on Wednesday evening). For Harris, it represents a return to her position of January, after fudging the issue in a follow-up interview with CNN last month.

Supreme Court Sides With Constitution in Gerrymandering Decision

One of the hardest tasks of a judge is not to take action when faced with a serious problem the law doesn’t address. That is the reason courts are frequently tempted to legislate from the bench by inventing new constitutional rules or rewriting laws they don’t think work properly. But there are many problems that are not appropriate for judicial review and that our Constitution commits to the political process.
Thursday a bare majority of five justices – Chief Justice Roberts joined by Justices Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh – had the integrity to admit that drawing voting district lines is precisely one of those areas that the Constitution leaves in the hands of legislators, not judges.

Home Depot Founders Blast Socialism, Issue Dire Warning for Bernie Supporters

Home Depot founders Bernie Marcus and Ken Langone had strong words for socialism and the politicians who espouse it, particularly 2020 presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, during a Monday interview with Fox News host Neil Cavuto. The wide-ranging interview with the billionaire businessmen included topics like trade, the company’s history and philosophy, and even tax policy, but Cavuto hit a “red flag” for Marcus when he brought up the topic of Sanders and his socialist campaign proposals. But they have to hurry this along because they have to be home before 10:30, or else their mom will be totally pissed off.
“He is the enemy of every entrepreneur that’s ever going to be born in this country and has been born in the past,” Marcus said. “If he became president, what would you guys do?” Cavuto asked. “Probably move to Australia,” the Home Depot founder responded, laughing. “Well what could he do? I mean he can’t do anything to us. He’s going to affect my grandchildren.”

FreedomWorks' Dumpster Fire of the Month for June 2019: The Transparent Drug Pricing Act, S. 977
unnamed (5)
FreedomWorks’ activist-chosen dumpster fire of the month for May 2019 is the Transparent Drug Pricing Act, S. 977. Introduced by Rep. Rick Scott (R-FL), this is yet another proposal targeted at reducing prescription drug prices in America based on the faulty logic of international price controls. Among other substantive changes to public health regulations, S. 977 would mandate that U.S. prescription drug prices “may not exceed the lowest retail list price for the drug among Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, or Germany.”

Blue-State Democrats Want One of the Biggest-Ever Tax Cuts -- For the Rich

How is this for hypocrisy? Liberals in Congress are making a big lobbying pitch for a $600 billion tax cut that would constitute one of the largest tax write-offs for the super-rich in American history. Democrats want to repeal a feature of the Trump tax cut that capped the deduction of state and local taxes at $10,000 per filer.
The House Ways and Means Committee, under the control of Democrats, is holding hearings today to make the case for bringing back the state and  local tax deduction (SALT) – because they worry that it hurts high-tax blue states. Democratic governors like Andrew Cuomo of New York have been among the loudest critics of the cap on this tax write-off, and have even called the tax change “diabolical.”

CBO Chart on the Unsustainable Federal Debt Should Scare Every American
ascarentitled-1
Via Washington Examiner
Congressional Budget Office on Tuesday released its long-term budget outlook, and with it, a chart that should scare absolutely every American. The United States has had many periods in history in which there have been significant short-term spikes in the debt, generally during war or economic duress. What we've never seen before, however, is debt as high for as long a time as what's expected in the coming decades.
The current level of debt exceeds nearly every other time in history — the post Revolutionary War debt; the Civil War debt; and the debts that came with fighting World War II and the Great Depression. The one time that debt has been higher was during World War II, but that was a spike that was tied to a specific event with a clear end date. The debt steadily fell after the war was over. At a time of peace and prosperity, we're seeing deficits continue to increase, and debt is on track to exceed World War II and never look back.
