It was nearly a decade ago I remember a call - in on the Suze Orman radio show in which the caller (mother) was asking advice about helping her college - aged adult son or daughter regarding college. To cut to the chase, Orman told the mother that she needed to look out for herself with regard to her own future retirement and that her young adult child would need to explore other avenues about financing her / his education. Subsequent articles those many years ago have highlighted parents, and even grandparents, who’ve mistakenly sacrificed their own financial security for their children / grandchildren.
