MUTH'S TRUTHS 12/14/2018

Some Drive-By Muthings to Start Your Weekend

Jimmy Conway (Robert Di Nero) to Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) in Goodfellas

“I’m not mad, I’m proud o’ you. You took your first pinch like a man and you learned the two greatest things in life...never rat on your friends and always keep your mouth shut.”

Apparently Michael CohenDonald Trump’s former lawyer, never saw the movie.  Maybe he can rent it while in prison over the next three years.

The Associated Press continued its jihad on behalf of political correctness in its reporting this week on the most recent terrorist attack in France.

The truth is, the gunman shouted “Allahu Akbar!” during the attack.  But according to the AP report, he “shouted ‘God is Great!’ in Arabic.”

Interesting that the media outlet didn’t quote the gunman on exactly what he said.  No wonder so many consider the AP an outlet for “fake news.”

In light of faltering sales after implementing a gun ban in its stores earlier this year, Dick’s Sporting Goods is mulling closure of 35 stores in 18 states.

Gun control doesn’t seem to be a winning marketing strategy.  Go figure.

From the Department of Robbing Peter to Pay Paul, headquartered, of course, in – where else? – California, comes the latest government taxpayer scheme: Taxing text messages by paying customers to provide cell phone service to poor people.

Taxing conversations?  I wonder if a “confessional tax” in Catholic churches is right around the corner…or will they be given a religious exemption?

Following the high school massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida last year, the school created a Public Safety Commission to investigate and make suggestions for boosting the safety of students.  And the gun-grabbers ain’t gonna like it one bit!

On Wednesday, according to media reports, the commission recommended, by an overwhelming vote of 13-1, “that teachers who volunteer and undergo background checks and training be allowed to carry concealed guns on campus to stop future shootings.”

The commission noted that “it’s not enough to have one or two police officers or armed guards on campus.”  And commission chairman, Pinellas County SheriffBob Gualtieri, further noted that “most deaths in school shootings happen within the first few minutes.”

The logic of this is obvious…though for gun-grabbers, deniable.  Will be interesting to see if a Nevada legislator takes up the “campus carry” issue – previously championed in the Assembly by now-Las Vegas City CouncilwomanMichele Fiore - in the 2019 session.

Grassroots activist Denise “Chemtrail” Mraz continues to promote herself as a former confidante of late Assemblyman Dennis Hof and heir to his political legacy.  She’s neither.

That said, I’m not sure how long the Queen of Gadflies is going to remain with us in Nevada.  Her village called yesterday.  They want their idiot back.

Following Sir Richard Branson’s first successful space tourism test flight into outer space yesterday, my new BFF and legal Nevada courtesan, Air Force Amy, has volunteered to go where no man has gone before in a way no man has gone before.

“I’m already a longtime Charter Member of the Mile-High Club,” Amy noted, referencing the unofficial guild of individuals who have engaged in sexual activity on an airplane.  “Who better to take that experience to a whole new level 50 miles off the ground?”

Inspired by “Daddy’s Home II,” I took the family up to Caliente yesterday in search of a cut-your-own Christmas tree.

Took a while hiking in the back country to find one we all agreed on, but Kristen’s boyfriend, Austin, and I finally felled this season’s ornament-holder.

Chuck and Austin

We then immediately retired to the Shamrock Pub in downtown Caliente for some liquid refreshment.

Tree-cutting is hard work!

Now Mama Gia can work her holiday magic on it.  Merry Christmas!
