These Numbers Should STOP Whining About the Electoral College
Continued wailing by liberal losers and MSM denial since Hillary Clinton’s 2016 defeat has been non-stop.
Most entertaining is the snowflake retreat to “safe spaces” with puppies and Play-Doh to soothe their anguish. Less entertaining are the ANTIFA violent protests in cities across the nation, leftist verbal abuse of Republican Party members, unethical and probably illegal attacks on Supreme Court nominee JudgeBrett Kavanaugh, and concerted violent attacks on Trump cabinet members in public.
Aside from Jill Stein’s naïve effort to force recounts, the left bleats loudest to dismantle the Electoral College. It’s unfair: Hillary Clinton won the “popular vote” so she should win, right? Wrong.
Notice that whenever the left loses they want to change the rules to match a liberal outcome and ideology.
Our Founders wisely created the Electoral College to ensure the STATES were fairly represented. They were skeptical of mob rule. Why should dense populated areas speak for the nation? The Twelfth Amendment (Amendment XII) to the United States Constitution provides the procedure for electing the President and Vice President. It replaced the procedure provided in Article II, Section 1, Clause 3, by which the Electoral College originally functioned. Problems with the original procedure arose in the elections of 1796 and 1800. The Twelfth Amendment refined the process whereby a President and a Vice President are elected by the Electoral College. The amendment was proposed by the Congress on December 9, 1803, and was ratified by the requisite three-fourths of state legislatures on June 15, 1804.
The following statistics validate the Founders’ design of the Electoral College to choose a President and a Vice President.
Electoral College: Trump won 30 states with a total of 304 electors, or 57% of the 538 electorsavailable. Clinton won 20 states with a total of 227 electors, or 42% of the 538 electors available.
Trump won 2,755.
Clinton won 487.
Clinton won 487.
New York State has 62 counties.
Trump won 45.
Clinton won 17.
Clinton won 17.
California has 58 counties.
Clinton won 33.
Trump won 25.
In the 5 boroughs that encompass New York City (NYC), Clinton received over 1.67 million more votes than Trump.
In Los Angeles County (LA), Clinton received over 1.69 million more votes than Trump.
Clinton won the national popular vote by just over 2.86 million votes.
Consequently, the 6 coastal corridor counties/boroughs in NYC and LA County accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the country.
These 6 counties total 5,054 square miles of the United States (13%).
The United States totals 3,794,083 square miles (87%).
The United States totals 3,794,083 square miles (87%).
Our country encompasses almost 4 million square miles of land and water territory. It is ludicrous that votes of those who inhabit 5,054 square miles, or 13% square miles of the United States, dictate the outcome of a national election.
Densely populated Democrat Party-controlled coastal corridor cities do not and should not speak for our country. Too bad the STATE of denial has no electoral votes.
