In response to all the *tee-churs* strikes going on in Washington State, I sent the following to a State Senator who appears to be of a similar thought line as I am (perhaps not as strong as I am but similar).
I am so sick of so called *public employees* going on strike I could scream. I find it an outright insult (among other things) that they aren't immediately relieved of their positions and that guaranteed paycheck they draw. Far too many of them would have to be paying back into the state if they were paid by the QUALITY of the lessons they are giving these children -- ie: the sex lessons on what God calls ABOMINATIONS.
It is just another of hundreds of reasons I am so opposed to UNIONS. I find them to be nothing more than mobster op's - they began with good intentions and then discovered what a fantastic EXTORTION power they held and that is the path they chose to strengthen.

Dear Sen. Braun,
I find it more than funny(?) that we have these PUBLIC employees (who have more secure positions due to their being PUBLIC employees than private sector employees have) engaging in an ILLEGAL strike and not being severely punished for doing so.
I have had nothing but disrespect for these *teachers* since that first strike in Federal Way in the 1970's. It was well known the strike was ILLEGAL but they got away with it and these strikes have continued ever since.
First of all - how can a PUBLIC EMPLOYEE belong to a UNION to begin with?
A few things I would hope that you would address in your speeches on this topic is the security these PUBLIC employees have over the private sector.
NO, and I do mean NO, Public employee should belong to a union or be able to participate in an ILLEGAL ACT which would include a strike without severe consequences.
We need the legislature to put forth those consequences in legislation and then that those consequences be ENFORCED. Having a law that has no consequences or is not enforced is nothing more than political rhetoric with no intent to enforce.... unless it is *selectively* done so.
This years teacher STRIKES are very strong messages to the students these teachers are supposed to be role models for. The lesson being taught is that you can break any law you disagree with and get off scott free. Great lesson for our young people.
This same lesson applies to politicians who fail to write laws that have TEETH for violations.
Saying something is ILLEGAL changes nothing if there aren't sure and swift consequences.... consequences that are then ENFORCED.
If these teachers don't like the pay and conditions they have in a district they are free to go to another job someplace else - just like private sector employees do.
