Accusations Fly against Kavanaugh in Craziest Confirmation in Decades
Over three days of hearings, Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh has been accused of being an accomplice to criminal theft, of being complicit in sexual harassment and of using code words to suggest allegiance to racists. The careless hand gesture of an aide sitting directly behind him sent Twitter into a tizzy with speculation that she was secretly flashing a “white power” symbol to millions of people watching at home. One senator accused him of being bribed by corporate interests, and another insinuated that Judge Kavanaugh had secret and inappropriate conversations with President Trump’s law firm — though she ... Anonymous NYT Op-ed Writer Tops Most-Wanted List in Washington
The hunt is on in Washington for the author of an anonymous New York Times op-ed who claimed to be part of a “resistance” inside the Trump administration, as Cabinet officials and even Vice President Mike Pence felt compelled Thursday to declare they didn’t do it. White House aides were trying to root out the culprit but the most furious searching and wildest speculation was by Washington journalists. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders pushed back against the media frenzy. “The media’s wild obsession with the identity of the anonymous coward is recklessly tarnishing the reputation of ... Lanny Davis Says He Didn't Change his Trump Tower Story
Lanny Davis, attorney for Michael Cohen, denied Thursday that he changed his story about a 2016 Trump Tower meeting, which involved Russians and members of the Trump campaign, to protect his client from perjury charges. If true, Davis’s denial seems to further undermine CNN’s July reporting on the meeting and the company’s subsequent defense of that reporting. On July 27, 2018, CNN reported that former Trump attorney Michael Cohen claimed he was present in a meeting when the president learned about and approved of the Trump Tower meeting before it occurred. Cohen was also allegedly ready to make that assertion to special counsel Robert Mueller. Since that report, several developments made ... Read More

Data Show Big Let-up in 'Obamacare' Premiums
Millions of people covered under the Affordable Care Act will see only modest premium increases next year, and some will get a price cut. That's the conclusion from an exclusive analysis of the besieged but resilient program, which still sparks deep divisions heading into this year's midterm elections. The consulting firm Avalere Health and The Associated Press crunched available state data and found that "Obamacare's" health insurance marketplaces seem to be stabilizing after two years of sharp premium hikes. And the exodus of insurers from the program has halted, even reversed somewhat, with more consumer choices for 2019. The analysis found a 3.6 percent average increase in ... Read More

Elizabeth Warren Calls for Trump's Removal
Sen. Elizabeth Warren called on White House officials Thursday to remove President Trump from office as unfit to handle the job. The Massachusetts Democrat and progressive hero, often touted as a 2020 presidential hopeful, said Wednesday’s op-ed in The New York Times by an anonymous White House official justifies forcing out Mr. Trump under the constitutional provisions for an incapacitated president. “If senior administration officials think the President of the United States is not able to do his job, then they should invoke the 25th Amendment,” she told CNN in an interview. Shortly after the interview, Ms. Warren sent out a fundraising letter, making the ... Read More
