Trump Vows To ‘Never’ Repeal The Second Amendment

President Donald Trump vowed Wednesday to “never” repeal the Second Amendment after former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens advocated for repeal in a recent New York Times op-ed.
“No way,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “We need more Republicans in 2018 and must ALWAYS hold the Supreme Court.”
Stevens, who retired from the Supreme court in 2010, advocated for repeal his op-ed, saying such action “would eliminate the only legal rule that protects sellers of firearms in the United States — unlike every other market in the world.”
“It would make our schoolchildren safer than they have been since … Read More

States Scrambling to Avert Obamacare Sticker Shock

Congress failed to tamp down Obamacare premiums in last week’s spending bill, shifting the burden onto states, where governors and legislatures are facing growing pressure — but few good options — to bring down rates before companies finalize their 2019 prices.
Politicians at all levels of government are fearing another round of sticker shock for consumers this fall as insurers jack up prices, blaming both the original 2010 health law and the moves Congress and the Trump administration have made to undercut it in the years since.

Kentucky House Passes Bill Restricting Abortions

The Kentucky House of Representatives passed legislation on Tuesday to ban a common abortion procedure from the 11th week of pregnancy, in what would be one of the strictest abortion limits in the United States.
The bill, which was approved by the state Senate last week, will now go for approval to Governor Matt Bevin, a Republican who has described himself as, “100 percent pro-life.”
Officials at Bevin’s office could not immediately be reached for comment.
The House voted 75-13 in favor of the measure. It previously passed a similar version of the measure but had to approve changes the Senate made. Both bodies are controlled by … Read More

Senate Dems Ripped for Blocking Votes on Trump Nominees

The Wall Street Journal slammed Democrats for abusing Senate rules in an attempt to block political appointees from taking their posts.
The Journal, in an editorial posted Tuesday night, noted the Senate is “sitting on 78 nominees who have already been vetted and passed out of committee but can’t get a floor vote.”
The newspaper added: “Senate Republicans have been too slow to press the issue, though they are finally working on a way around Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s obstructionism.”
The Journal pointed out Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla. is attempting to change a rule that allows 30 hours of debate for every … Read More

Female Senators Slam Leadership for Failing to Pass Sexual Harassment Legislation

All 22 female senators slammed the Senate in a letter to the leadership on Wednesday over the lack of action on sexual harassment legislation, reports CNN.
Those on both sides of the aisle said they were disappointed there hasn’t been any movement to pass a reform of the Congressional Accountability Act of 1995.
They ask that the leadership bring an update to this bill after the nationwide movement against sexual harassment over the past year has brought to light some disturbing cases on Capitol Hill.
The letter was … Read More
