CATHOLIC VOTE 03/26/2018 THE SENATE FAILED TO LISTEN TO IT'S CONSTITUENTS - STOP ABORTIONS!

Cardinal Dolan didn't hold back.

He called it "appalling."

Let this sink in: 14 Catholic Senators joined together to block a vote that would have prohibited abortions after 20 weeks. Cardinal Dolan explained that these abortions usually involve "brutally dismembering a defenseless unborn child, while also posing serious dangers to his or her mother."

Their obstruction couldn't be more extreme.

A total of 44 Senate Democrats and 2 Republicans blocked a vote on a bill that would have prohibited abortions after 20 weeks on children that feel pain in the womb. They did this despite a new poll which found that 63% of Americans favor restricting abortions after 20 weeks -- including 56% of Democratic voters!

And guess what...

Several of the Catholic Senators who blocked this vote are seeking re-election next year -- including several from states that President Trump won by a large margin.

We cannot let this stand. Every Catholic voter in these key states must know exactly where their Senators stand. Two Catholic examples in particular: Senators Claire McCaskill of Missouri and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota both blocked a vote on this simple pro-life bill.

Do voters in these conservative states realize that their senators are so extreme on abortion that they would allow abortions on children in the 6th, 7th, or even 9th month?

Pause for a second...

Consider how radical our current laws on abortion really are. Of the 198 countries in the world, only 7 allow abortion after 20 weeks. Here is a sampling of the limits on abortion from several European countries:

Greece: 12 weeks
Austria: 12 weeks
Germany: 12 weeks
France: 12 weeks
Italy: 12 weeks
Spain: 14 weeks
Ireland: illegal
Poland: illegal
Sweden: 18 weeks
Norway: 12 weeks
Denmark: 12 weeks

America has the notorious distinction of allowing abortion up to the moment of birth, along with these countries: North Korea, China, Vietnam, Singapore, the Netherlands, and Canada.

You get that? Netherlands, Canada, Singapore, a bunch of communist countries…. and us.

What an embarrassment that our country, founded on the "right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" would allow the wholesale slaughter of innocent human life in the womb.

A majority of U.S. senators were willing to pass this law. And President Trump promised to sign it into law. But Senate rules require 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. So the vote failed.

But the fight isn't over. This is how American politics works. Legislation is proposed and elected officials go on the record with their vote. What happens with that voting record is up to voters like you and me.

Senators Claire McCaskill (MO) and Heidi Heitkamp (ND) are both in tough re-election fights.

They chose to stand with Planned Parenthood.

Against their faith. Against the Bishops. Against children who feel pain.

Both of them deserve to lose in a landslide.

I hope you are ready to help make that happen.
