Israel carried out a series of strikes against Hamas targets in Gaza Fridayafternoon, the army said, in retaliation for a volley of rockets fired at Israel from the Palestinian enclave.
In a statement, the IDF spokesperson said Israeli planes and tanks targeted two Hamas sites in the northern Gaza Strip.
The retaliatory fire came an hour after three rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip, in the first such incident in over a week.
Two of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defence system while the third fell in Israeli territory in the Shaar Hanegev region, on the Gaza border.
Israel Silent as Syrian Flag Raised over Beit Jinn and Rebels Transported Out….

Israel and the IDF stayed conspicuously silent on Friday, December 29 at the sight of the 300 Syrian rebel defenders of the strategic Beit Jinn being transported by bus out of the enclave to Idlib in the north accompanied by ambulances.
Their surrender to dictated terms on Tuesday, December 26, opened the way for the victors, the Syrian army, Hizballah and other pro-Iranian militias, to reach Israel’s Hermon border and prepare to push south.
By noon Friday, a Syrian flag was flying over the village of Beit Jinn. [pictured above]
Our sources reveal that before boarding the buses, the rebels blew up their central command post in Beit Jinn and burned all the documents and equipment in the building.
They also destroyed the markers on the graves of comrades who fell in battle to conceal their identities and prevent Hizballah and Assad’s army from singling out their families for revenge.
Our military sources expect the combined Syrian-Hizballah-Iranian force to turn next to taking over the Druze village of Hader, which is 5km from the northern border of Israeli Golan.
From there, a few days later, they will likely launch their next operation to expel Syrian rebel forces from the Quneitra region.
Syrian military officials said quite openly on Friday that their goal is to reach the Israeli border.

There is a lot of celebration being planned for the year 5778 in Israel in honour of the 70th anniversary of the State of Israel.
On May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency, proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel.
U.S. President Harry S. Truman recognised the new nation on the same day despite major opposition in his government.

I will watch the following leaders very closely in 2018. They will all have a significant role in the direction of the Middle East and, very possibly, the world.
President Trump’s Middle East focus will be Iran. He is developing a plan to contain it.
He has a team of both defence and intelligence people that knows that Iran has dangerous motives.
Additionally, the Justice Department’s investigation of how the Obama administration let Hezbollah continue its lucrative drug trading so as not to jeopardise the Iran nuclear deal will be a significant news story in 2018.
The Trump/Kushner U.S, Israel and Sunni Arab coalition will continue to build for the purpose of confronting Iran.
Iran, for the most part, has its land bridge from Iran to the Mediterranean in place, now that ISIS has been defeated.
This will serve as a pipeline of weapons and various types of military equipment for Hezbollah and be used to establish their military presence in Syria for the purpose of confronting Israel.
Iranians are extremely strategic; they have a plan and they are patient.
The article below; “US, Israel sign secret pact to tackle Iran nuclear and missile threat,” is very encouraging and once again shows that Donald Trump is the best friend Israel has ever had in the Oval Office.
He is also pragmatic and fully knows the risk Iran poses for Israel, U.S. interests in the region and to Sunni Arab allies.
Israel has calculated how far it will let Iran go before it reaches the point of no return.
To have the United States administration on Israel’s side is enormous.
Turkey’s leader Erdogan will continue his attempt to be a force in the Middle East in 2018.
His hosting of 57 Arab countries over Trump’s Jerusalem decision was his power play.
He is also very successful at playing to the Arab street. But his harsh chastisement of President Trump won’t move Trump or Trump’s commitment to Israel.
Turkey should be forced out of NATO.
And the U.S. should totally evacuate its 2700 people from the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey and move to one of Israel’s bases.
Incirlik Air Base [pictured above] has been Turkey's leverage in a growing list of disputes with the United States. But some former U.S. military officers argue it's not needed any more.
Putin will keep making his moves in the Middle East to strengthen his relations and become more of a force.

'Dramatic understandings' were agreed at the White House on December 12, and a deal was signed by the two countries' national security chiefs, Israel's Channel 10 reports.
Israel and the United States have secretly signed a far-reaching joint memorandum of understanding providing for full cooperation to deal with Iran’s nuclear drive, its missile programs and its other threatening activities, the TV report said.
The document was signed on December 12 at the White House, culminating intensive talks between representatives of the major Israeli and American intelligence and defence hierarchies, headed by the US and Israeli national security advisers, H. R. McMaster and Meir Ben-Shabbat, [pictured below] respectively, the report said Thursday
Citing both American and Israeli officials, the report said the document is designed to translate into “steps on the ground” the positions set out by US President Donald Trump in his October 13 speech on Iran, in which hedecertified the Iran nuclear deal.
As part of the understandings that were reached the U.S. and Israel decided to form several working groups according to the joint goals:
Covert and diplomatic action to block Iran's path to nuclear weapons – according to the U.S. official this working group will deal with diplomatic steps that can be taken as part of the Iran nuclear deal to further monitor and verify that Iran is not violating the deal.
It also includes diplomatic steps outside of the nuclear deal to put more pressure on Iran.
The working group will deal with possible covert steps against the Iranian nuclear program;
Countering Iranian activity in the region, especially the Iranian entrenchment efforts in Syria and the Iranian support for Hezbollah and other terror groups.
This working group will also deal with drafting U.S.-Israeli policy regarding the "day after" in the Syrian civil war.
Countering Iranian ballistic missiles development and the Iranian "precision project" aimed at manufacturing precision guided missiles in Syria and Lebanon for Hezbollah to be used against Israel in a future war.
Joint U.S.-Israeli preparation for different escalation scenarios in the region concerning Iran, Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.
The Iranian parliament now recognises Jerusalem as the 'capital of Palestine'…..
The Iranian parliament voted to approve a plan last Wednesday that would require the government of Iran to recognise Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the [so called] Palestinian people, Iranian news agency Farsreported.
The vote yielded 207 supporters and met with no opposition. No surprise there?
Anti-Corruption Protests Spread from Tehran to other Iranian Cities…..

Rallies against corruption in high places [pictured above] spread Thursdayfrom Tehran to sweep up an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 more demonstrators in Mashhad, Urmia near the Turkish border and Arak between Tehran and Isfahan.
They are becoming increasingly political.
Placards were calling “Death to Rouhani” and groups shouted in chorus: “No to Syria! No to Lebanon! No to Gaza!” and “Corruption is everywhere!”
In Mashhad, demonstrators gathered outside the residence of supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s favourite for president, Ebrahim Raisi, who heads the Astan Quds Razavi, Khamenei’s personal financial organ.
The anti-corruption protests first erupted in the capital, Tehran, outside Khamenei’s residence, with the slogan on placards asking, “Where is the money?” It was a reference to the vast sums released to Iran by the Obama administration for signing the 2015 nuclear accord.
The government clamped gag orders on the event and ordered the large numbers of Revolutionary Guards officers mobilised to act with restraint and refrain from making arrests. The protests then began spreading.

Leaders of the BRICS emerging market nations launched a $100 billion development bank and a currency reserve pool on Tuesday in their first concrete step toward reshaping the Western-dominated international financial system.
The long-awaited bank will be called the “New Development Bank."
It is the first major achievement of the BRICS countries - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - since they got together in 2009 to press for a bigger say in the global financial order created by Western powers after World War Two and centred on the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Quite frankly, the Western-dominated IMF and World Bank have policies that are too restrictive and too punitive to allow the Supernations within BRICS to set up the planned regional governments.
Notice the Supernations which will benefit from this "New Development Bank".
1) Supernation #5 -- Russia and Eastern Europe
2) Supernation #6 - Central and South America
3) Supernation #9 -- ASEAN - South and South-east Asia -- of note here is that, even though India is not presently a member of ASEAN, the Club of Rome Plan lists her as a member.
Currently, the new Modi government of India is negotiating with ASEAN to become a member very shortly.
4) Supernation #4 -- South Africa is planned to be part of a Supernation of "Australia, South Africa, and the rest of the market-economy of the developed world".
Therefore, can you see how the development of this "New Development Bank" will greatly stimulate the formation of these Super-nations and will move the entire process along?

The Bank of Israel has been examining the possibility of a state-sponsored currency for several months.
The Finance Ministry and Bank of Israel are considering issuing a digital currency, a possible response to the frenzied crypto-currency and Bitcoin craze.
The digital shekel would record every transaction by mobile phone and make it more difficult to evade taxation, according to a finance official who spoke to The Jerusalem Post on condition of anonymity.
For several months now, regulators have been examining the possibility of a state-sponsored currency, and the government could review a tentative legal framework in January.
The digital shekel would be identical in value to the physical shekel currently in use.
With cash, you make a transaction immediately, unlike with a bank transfer or cheque, which takes a few days to clear.
Digital currency would act similarly to cash by not passing through a bank-clearing system, but rather changing hands immediately.
“You can imagine that instead of giving you a piece of paper saying the Bank of Israel on it, I can send you a piece of digital code that was issued by a central bank,” the official said, with the digital currency being stored in a digital wallet.
It is unclear where the digital wallet would be located – either in a Bank of Israel account or on your mobile phone.
And if somebody stole your phone, what would happen to your digital wallet?

China Quietly Builds the World's Largest DNA Database…...

From kindergartens to high schools, from prisons to anyone who's simply lost their ID, China is conducting the world's most aggressive campaign to collect DNA from its population - with or without permission, in what it is calling a "high-tech security blanket" used to better monitor its 1.4 billion citizens, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Schoolchildren in a region in western China famed for steam trains and jasmine flowers thought little of it when police interrupted classes andasked all the boys to spit into small plastic boxes.
Chinese authorities are already pointing to the collection techniques as a success - highlighting a case in Qianwei County, in which the murder of two shopkeepers from nearly a decade ago was solved using genetic samples collected from the murderer. [pictured below]
The goal, according to a WSJ's examination of police documents from across China, is to double China's current DNA repository to 100 million records by 2020 - which will require that they step up their efforts and collect nearly as many records each year as the United States has in its entire national database built over two years.
The data collection has been aggressive according to the WSJ, as many of the methods used by Chinese police would be illegal in the U.S. - such as taking saliva swabs or blood samples from people detained for violations such as forgetting to carry their ID, or writing blogs critical of the state.
Chinese authorities are outright lying to people about taking samples:
In Baishan, a city bordering North Korea, residents of a home for the elderly were told they were getting free health checks, the police documents show.
In mountainous Ningxia, in the north-west, residents were told a census was being conducted.
In the southern manufacturing city of Shenzhen, an itinerant worker told the Journal he had his blood taken after he was unable to show a local residency card.
China has no laws governing the collection of DNA outside of criminal investigations, and virtually no privacy protections.
Around 500,000 DNA profiles collected in a human-trafficking case are now being lumped in with the criminal investigation database.
This is all leading up to China marrying DNA profiles and other biometric information with other real-time surveillance tools, such as facial recognition technology and the complete monitoring of online activity, in what UC Berkeley adjunct professor Xiao Qiang calls a "digital totalitarian state."
One provincial police force at the DNA conference said that there is a "dire need" for legislation to "ensure collection can go smoothly, and protect the rights of people."
We won't hold our breath...
