Bombshell: Huma Abedin removed ‘Muslim Engagement’ files out of the State Department
It is no secret that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seems to be at the center of more than a few scandals in Washington. Now, Hillary Clinton’s assistant Huma Abedin, wife to disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner, has been caught in a scandal of her own.
According to Judicial Watch, Abedin took five boxes of physical files – including records described as “Muslim Engagement Documents” – out of the State Department, so that they could not become public record.
And That’s Not All…
Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for “DS-1904 (Authorization for the Removal of Personal Papers and Non-Record Materials) forms completed by, or on behalf of” former Secretary Clinton, Human Abedin, former chief of staff Cheryl Mills, or former deputy chief of staff Jacob Sullivan.
The watchdog group received the documents on Thursday, which included a list of information and files that Clinton and her aides were able to remove from the State Department. Most of these removed documents were supposed to be public record, but were labeled not to be “released to the general public under FOIA.”
According to Judicial Watch, they were able to do this by claiming that the documents “were ‘personal’ materials and ‘unclassified, non-record materials,'” including “a list of official and personal calls and schedules that Clinton removed, which carry a special notation that the documents were not to be made public records” and “PDFs of Clinton’s ‘correspondence in response to gifts…thank you and acknowledgements,’ as well as other records.”
In the mix of these files, Abedin removed boxes marked “Muslim Engagement Documents,” which reportedly focused on the Muslim Brotherhood. Abedin herself is closely tied to the Brotherhood, which makes her involvement in removing the engagement documents even more problematic.
All of these things should have been accessible to the public via the FOIA request.
The Reason Behind It All
Former Deputy Assistance Secretary Raymond Maxwell came forward in 2015 to admit that he witnessed this act, which was likely an attempt to “separate” incriminating documents before they were given to the Accountability Review Board that was investigating Benghazi.
The documents were taken out of the State Department after hours.
It has taken two years, but Judicial Watch has finally uncovered what Abedin and Clinton were hiding: clear evidence of corruption.
According to Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton:
We already know the Obama State Department let Hillary Clinton steal and then delete her government emails, which included classified information. But these new records show that was only part of the scandal. These new documents show the Obama State Department had a deal with Hillary Clinton to hide her calls logs and schedules, which would be contrary to FOIA and other laws.
Fitton then asked the question we are all wondering: “When are the American people going to get an honest investigation of the Clinton crimes?”
