MICHELE FIORE, LAS VEGAS CITY COUNCILWOMAN (Ward 6) NEWSLETTER 11/2017

I love the holiday season.

Friends,

There's so much to catch up on and schedule. First, Coming up this weekend is our Veterans Day Parade.  Meet us Saturday 11-11-17 at 10am on 4th Street Downtown to celebrate our Veterans. Then on Sunday we'll be at Nellis Air Force Base to watch their incredible air show, I hope you can make it down there. We will have so much fun together.

Mondays with Michele is happening this Monday the 13th and our office at the YMCA will begin to incorporate helping our animal foundation adopt their pets out. I will have a bunny name Calliope and and black cat name Toothless. Spread the word and come in and visit with us.

As your Councilwoman our office is covering a lot of ground.  My staff and I toured our Corridor of Hope area which encompasses the majority of our homeless population.  We're very engaged in solving our homeless situation.  We're looking at the program San Antonio, Texas put in place called Haven for Hope. Our team met with some great organizations that have really stepped up, we have smart, effective and caring facilities right here in Las Vegas with great plans to help individuals that are homeless grow and succeed. There was an organization that isn't operating as they tout to, however, we're watching and looking into other ways to help. We really don't have many options for homeless women, which I found astounding. Most of our homeless shelters here in the valley cater to homeless men.

On a positive note we toured the Tule Springs National Monument area and it was so incredible. There are Fossils out there sticking out of the ground from 300,000 years ago. Just Amazing.

Some more fun we had this past weekend was partnering up with Captain Sasha Larkin from the LVMPD Northwest Area Command, our City and County FireFighters, our NRA Eddie the Eagle, US Air Force, Nevada State Fire Marshall, SNHD, Laborers Local 872, Councilman Stavros Anthony, Councilman Steve Seroka, Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick and Commissioner Larry Brown to put together a fabulous Partnership for Safety Event. And it was FABULOUS! Thank you.

Coming up next week in City Hall our Planning Commission meeting Tuesday at 6:00pm and of course our City Council meeting Wednesday 11-15-17 at 9:00amsharp.

Come have some hot dogs with us in Pop Squires Park.  Friday November 17th from 4:30-6:30 we are having a BBQ in the park.

Load your car with up to 5 boxes of paper to shred and bring it to our shredding party.

Mark your calendars for our Cowboy ChristmasSaturday December 2nd!

Ok I didn't want to overload you, however, there are some more exciting events coming in December.  Be on the lookout for our December Pasta Dinner in my home and Santa in the park December 16th.  More details to come.

I love you guys!

Love,

Michele
