Resident Stopped Church Shooter with Own Rifle in Deadly Texas Shooting

Texas authorities are offering more details about the timeline of a deadly church shooting at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, a community 30 miles southeast of San Antonio. Department of Public Safety regional director Freeman Martin said at a press conference that the alleged shooter was dressed in black, wearing tactical gear and a ballistic vest when he arrived at a neighboring gas station around 11:20 a.m. local time. Donna Brazile to Clinton Staffers: 'I'm Not Patsey the Slave'

Donna Brazile hit back at campaign staffers of Hillary Clinton critical of the former Democratic National Committee chairwoman's recent revelations about the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, telling them she was no "Patsey the slave." "Yeah, I'm not Patsey the slave because I got sick and tired of people trying to tell me how to spend the money," Brazile said on ABC's "This Week" Sunday. "I wasn't getting a salary. House Votes to Repeal Obamacare’s ‘Death Panel’

Late Thursday afternoon the House of Representatives voted 307-111 to repeal one of Obamacare’s most dangerous provisions. Republicans Caving to Dems on Tax-Reform?

Republicans Caving to Dems on Tax-Reform?

While Democrats continue to criticize the Republican House tax-reform plan as a big favor to the rich at the expense of the middle class, analysts are discovering it adds a little-noticed surcharge for the wealthy that effectively creates a 46 percent tax bracket, Politico reported. While House Republicans claim the tax plan keeps the top individual rate unchanged at 39.6 percent, the proposed surcharge on Americans who earn more than $1 million in taxable income would trigger an extra 6 percent tax on the next $200,000 they earn. Steve Moore, a tax expert at the Heritage Foundation, told Politico he was unaware of the surcharge. “I was just in a briefing with ... Read More

Obamacare Repeal Push by Republicans Bogs Down Tax Plan Hopes

Republicans won’t get another crack at repealing Obamacare until next year, but fights over tweaking the law could drag down other parts of the GOP’s agenda on Capitol Hill, including renewing funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and throwing a curve in the GOP’s tax overhaul. President Trump seemed to back those efforts last week when he said Congress would have a lot more room to cut taxes if it would repeal the Obamacare individual mandate, which would leave people free from the requirement to buy insurance — and save billions for taxpayers who wouldn’t have to subsidize their coverage. House Republicans balked, but ... Read More
