Moments ago, the Senate voted unanimously
(99-0) to pass the Iran Sanctions Extension Act—critical legislation
that reauthorizes the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA)
through the year 2026.
ISA provides the basic architecture of U.S. sanctions on Iran's nuclear program and other dangerous activities.
AIPAC, with your help, has actively lobbied Congress to renew ISA
for the past several months. Together we've worked persistently to
ensure our lawmakers understand the urgency of extending the law before
it expires at the end of the year. And following an overwhelming 419-1
vote two weeks ago in the House, the Senate has now advanced the
legislation in similar bipartisan action.
Congress has now spoken with a united, bipartisan voice on the
issue of Iran: The United States is prepared to impose severe
consequences if the regime cheats on its commitments and continues its
dangerous activities.
