MUTH’S TRUTHS
I’ve said for years that politicians are lucky there aren’t
truth-in-labeling laws for campaigns the way there are for consumer
products. And Marco “Gang of Eight” Rubio is one of the luckier ones.
In other news…
There’s this Washington, DC gadfly named Frank Gaffney with a deeply personal
grudge who’s been peddling a conspiracy theory for over a decade now that my
friend Grover Norquist, president of
Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), has been secretly aiding and abetting the
Muslim Brotherhood.
Gaffney’s “punked” a lot of people into buying into his
nonsense, most
recently televangelist Glenn
Beck, who last year threatened to leave the National Rifle Association
(NRA) if they didn’t investigate the allegations against Norquist, who is on
the NRA’s board.
Gaffney is now running a scorched-earth campaign to get NRA
members to recall Norquist despite the fact that, as NewsMax reporter John Gizzi noted
on Sunday, “the NRA itself and a ‘Who's Who’ of national conservative leaders
have rallied to Norquist's defense, saying the allegations are nonsense.”
"Given the staleness of all allegations [and] the lack of factual support," concluded a special NRA panel that investigated Gaffney’s crappola, "we disagree with the Petitioner in this case and recommend a NO vote" on the Norquist recall."
Gaffney is a goofball who’s still mad at Grover some 15
years after being banned from attending an exclusive, invitation-only weekly gathering
of conservative leaders at ATR’s HQ known as the “Wednesday Meeting.” He is as obsessed with Grover as Captain Ahab was with Moby Dick.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS
“The FBI tells us that its demand for a back door into the
iPhone is all about fighting terrorism, and that it is essential to break in
just this one time to find out more about the San Bernardino attack last
December.
“But the truth is they had long sought a way to break
Apple's iPhone encryption and, like 9/11 and the PATRIOT Act, a mass murder
provided just the pretext needed. After all, they say, if we are going to be
protected from terrorism we have to give up a little of our privacy and
liberty. Never mind that government spying on us has not prevented one
terrorist attack.” – Former Congressman Ron Paul
