According to the Bible do we exist as spirits before we are born ?
Some believe that humans exist as spirits before they are born. They use Jer 1:5 to defend their viewpoint. Is what they propose biblical or not? Let us see what God’s Word has to say about this. We will start with the proposed text:
Jer 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." NIV
Does this Bible text mean that we as humans existed as spirits in heaven before we were born?
Let us examine this text closely.
* “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you”.
How can God know someone before he/she is born? There are only two possibilities:
a. We existed in another dimension before we are born
Or
b. God’s foreknowledge makes it possible for Him to know us before we are born.
Which one does the prophet mean, and is this confirmed elsewhere in God’s Word?
Notice that this verse uses the following words: “Before I formed you in the womb”. In other words before I created you, before you came into being. The text itself leans towards interpretation b: God’s foreknowledge makes it possible for Him to know us before we are born. Foreknowledge does not mean pre-existence of the beings foreknown.

This comes from the opening lines of the Book of Jeremiah in the Old Testament. This verse (Jeremiah 1:5) and the ones that follow are a call to leadership for the under-confident Jeremiah. Essentially, God is saying that he has given Jeremiah many gifts, and he doesn’t need to be afraid. God knows Jeremiah; he was born for the role that is being prescribed for him.
Jeremiah goes on to prophesize the fall of Judah to Babylon and that many of Judah’s people will be captives in a foreign land. So, the job of being a prophet was not an easy one. Often in our lives, we are called to difficult situations, or we see things going awry for others and want to call them out of harm’s way. The Book of Jeremiah may indeed be a good one for people in similar situations to read, as they will read of God’s promise to eventually save God’s people.

The Harpazo (Catching Away) of the Bride of Christ
This is a Bible Study of the catching away of the bride of Christ, the harpazo. In short, it is a supernatural event that comes directly after the resurrection of the dead in Christ in the near future. The Rapture And The Bride
Q. If I’m not wrong there is no evidence in the gospels of Jesus mentionig about the rapture. Since this is an important subject why hasn’t Jesus spoken a single word about it? I tried to figure out an answer by myself: maybe because the people He was addressing to would not be involved with the rapture. But, even so, He spoke a lot about the wedding of the Lamb and the bride, the wedding banquet, and they were not involved on these topics as well. Could you please give me some light on that?
A. Jesus never taught openly about the rapture although we who already know about it can see a subtle hint now and then. John 11:25-26 is an example. John 14:2-3 is another. The reason for this is that Jesus came to offer the kingdom to Israel and had they accepted His offer there would have been no Church and thus no rapture.
Although as early as Matt. 8:10-12 Jesus warned the Jews that the kingdom would be taken from them and given to others, I believe His offer to them remained open until 40 days after the resurrection when He returned to Heaven as prophesied in Hosea 5:15.
Jesus spoke of Himself as the bridegroom (Matt. 9:15), but He never spoke of a bride, even in such obvious opportunities as the Parable of the Wedding Banquet (Matt. 22:1-14) and the Parable of the 10 virgins (Matt. 25:1-13).
The rapture was first introduced on earth by Paul about 20 years after the Ascension. He claimed at the time that he was revealing a secret (1 Cor. 15:51-53). And while Paul spoke of the Church being betrothed to the Lord (2 Cor. 11:2) and hinted at the relationship between the two in Ephesians 5:25-27, the first and only mention of a bride as the wife of the Lamb is in Rev. 21:9. The term “bride of Christ” does not appear in the Bible, but is assumed from Paul’s statement in 2 Cor. 11:2.

The Rapture
