SILVER STATE CONFIDENTIAL 06/24/2015

CARSON CITY GOP RIPS TAX-HIKING REPUBLICANS

As further proof that the Republicans who were wrong on Gov. Brian Sandoval’s $1.4 billion tax hike were the Republicans who voted for it, not the ones who voted against it, the Carson City Republican Central Committee Executive Board last week approved and distributed the following statement…

Statement on Tax Increase Legislation

Nevada's 2015 Legislature passed Gov. Sandoval's record setting tax increase including a renamed Margin's Tax after 80% of the voters said "No" to it.  The legislators increased the size of government and scope of its control over our lives.  These actions are contrary to Republican Party principles, platforms, endorsement process, and campaign pledges made by a majority of these legislators.

When elected officials feel free to blatantly contravene the clear, unambiguous voice of the voters of Nevada, we the people must take action.  The Carson City Republican Central Committee Executive Board hereby notifies our elected leadership that we will pursue all options to the fullest extent.

1)    We support and will circulate a referendum to submit the Governor's budget to a vote of the people so we may repeal the tax increase.

2)    We endorse and will circulate the recall petition for our state senator, Ben Keikeffer (sic).  We encourage other districts with legislators who voted for the tax increase to do the same.

3)    We seek a candidate who will uphold Republican principles and our platform to replace our current assemblyman, P.K. O'Neill.

To participate in these actions please call our volunteer line at 775-841-1800, and watch our website ccrccgop.com for updates.

Hmm.  Repeal.  Recall.  Replace.  Has a nice ring to it.  Someone in Carson City should buy the domain name (www.RepealRecallReplace.com) and print up t-shirts and buttons.

STOREY COUNTY GOP RIPS TAX-HIKING REPUBLICANS

Not to be outdone by their neighbors to the west, Storey County Republicans also adopted and published…

“A Resolution expressing the Storey County Republican Central Committee’s profound disappointment and loss of confidence in those state officers and legislators who violated the Republican Party Platform and principles by their support for the largest tax increase in State history.”

The resolution notes that the party’s official platform specifically opposes tax hikes and further notes that Nevadans in general voted against a gross receipts tax similar to the one passed by the Legislature earlier this month…

“Nevada voters in 2014 overwhelmingly voted against the adoption of a gross receipts tax on businesses in the State: statewide 79% voted ‘NO;’ in Storey County 86% voted ‘NO.’”

The SCRCC therefore…

“(E)xpresses its profound disappointment and loss of confidence with those elected State Officers and Legislators who turned their backs to the taxpayers of Nevada and to Storey County Republicans by abdicating their pledge to Republican Principles and the Platform of the Party and who proposed and who voted to approve more than $1.3 Billion in new taxes – the single largest tax increase in the history of the State of Nevada. This list includes:

State Officers:
Governor Brian Sandoval

State Assembly:
Paul Anderson
Derek Armstrong
David Gardner
John Hambrick
Pat Hickey
Randy Kirner
Erv Nelson
P.K. O’Neill
James Oscarson
Steve Silberkraus
Lynn Stewart
Glen Trowbridge
Melissa Woodbury

State Senate:
Greg Brower
Patricia Farley
Scott Hammond
Joe Hardy
Becky Harris
Ben Kieckhefer
Mark Lipparelli
Michael Roberson

Demonstrating yet again that it’s not the conservative Republicans who voted AGAINST the tax hike who are out of step with the party, but the RINO’s, sellouts and Gumby’s who voted FOR it.

May their political carcasses rot in the noonday sun.

DRIVE-BY MUTHINGS

Does anyone in their right mind think that removing the Confederate flag from South Carolina flagpoles or ditching the “Runnin’ Rebels” team name at UNLV is actually something that will help race relations?

What planet do you people live on?

GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson nailed it when he said…

“We need to be in a place where people feel free to express themselves and not to be intimidated by political correctness.  It’s destroying our nation.”

Which state came in #45 at the bottom of the barrel in CNBC’s list of “America's Top States for Business 2015: A scorecard on state economic climate”?

Yep, our very own Silver State.

And those rankings were probably compiled BEFORE Nevada’s Legislature and RINO governor passed the largest tax hike in the state’s history.

Talk about stupid is as stupid does.

Hey, would you like to see what a REAL Republican governor looks like, says and does?  Check this out…

Who would have thought that CUTTING taxes would spur job creation and ignite a state’s economy?

I mean, other than conservatives, that is.

If you thought Assemblyman Pat “The Appeaser” Hickey (Reno-RINO) was bad – and he is! – wait’ll you get  load of the guy Hickey beat for the seat four years ago and is expected to make a run for the seat again if/when Hickey hangs up his Assembly spurs: Orrin Johnson.

Johnson is the perfect RINO.

Boy, oh boy, does he know how to TALK the conservative talk.  But this guy is GOP establishment all the way.  In fact, this guy is such a go-along-to-get-along Gumby Republican that liberal blogger Jon Ralston literally GUSHES over the guy when talking about him.

Johnson has his own blog – ridiculously named “First Principles: In search of the Unified Theory of Conservatism” - and a guest column in the Reno Gazette-Journal where he regularly trashes conservatives who dare not genuflect to Republican “leaders” who will sell out their professed principles for a bag of magic beans.

Indeed, in his latest column, Johnson slammed conservative Assemblywoman Michele Fiore for leading the conservative anti-tax contingent in the Assembly caucus this session.

“I'm not saying that Michele Fiore works for Harry Reid,” Johnson wrote. “But if Reid DID have a Republican mole in the Legislature on his payroll, I can't figure out what she'd do differently.”

OJ’s a “snake oil Republican.”

Don’t be fooled by this fool.
