Long before modern medicine gave physicians a window into the womb and before the process of conception, gestation, and birth were fully understood, most Americans recognized that preborn children were not merely lumps of tissue that could be discarded with impunity.
The Hippocratic Oath has long prohibited physicians from inducing abortion. Thus, the medical profession recognized the humanity of children in the womb from an early date.
+ + Roe v. Wade: The Supreme Court ruling was wrong in 1973 – and it's still wrong today.
The assertion in Roe v. Wade's majority opinion was that “viability" (the ability of a fetus to live outside the womb) is usually placed at about seven months (28 weeks). Today, the scientific consensus is that viability usually occurs at 24 weeks, and in some cases even earlier because of extraordinary medical advancements.
We also know that by twenty
weeks gestation, a preborn child has pain receptors all over his or her
body and reacts to external stimuli by recoiling and emitting stress
hormones. At twenty weeks, mothers are encouraged to speak and sing to
their child in the womb as the baby can recognize the voice of the
mother.
+ + There are two principal victims of every abortion.
Three generations of Americans have witnessed decisions by the United States Supreme Court which explicitly degrade fellow human beings to something less than "persons in the whole sense." Abortion is not only an act of murder against the preborn child, it also damages the lives of the women pro-abortion advocates claim to be protecting.
The findings of a South Dakota Task Force Report on Abortion reported that "women whose first pregnancies ended in abortion were 65% more likely to score in the 'high risk' range for clinical depression, compared to women whose first pregnancy resulted in a live birth." The study found that women with a prior abortion experienced a 61% increased risk of mood disorders, 61% increased risk of social phobia, and 59% increase in attempting suicide.
We believe that women are
incompetently counseled when they walk into an abortion clinic. They are
deceived about the procedure and are only rarely informed of the
potential for ongoing emotional trauma.
When viewed in the context of history, it is apparent that Roe v. Wade is a judicial aberration that inflicts significant damage to American jurisprudence and, in the process, irreparably harms untold numbers of babies and mothers.
+ + Four pro-life initiatives that Congress must pass in 2015 ...
This year, we are calling on members of the United States Congress to pass four measures that will curb the staggering number of abortions performed in the United States as the result of Roe v. Wade and ObamaCare...
1.) Pass the "Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act"
This landmark bill prohibits
abortions performed past 20 weeks. It allows for exceptions if the
mother's life is in danger. It is expected that the PCUCPA will be the
first bill to come to a House vote, possibly this week.
2.) Defund Planned Parenthood
The "Title X Abortion Provider
Prohibition Act" would revoke taxpayer funds from Planned Parenthood,
the nations' largest abortion provider. PPH is also among the most
egregious organizations in deceiving women about the abortion process
and the liklihood that an abortion will cause subsequent emotional
trauma. In 2013, abortions made up 94% of Planned Parenthood's pregnancy
services. For every one adoption referral, Planned Parenthood performed
174 abortions.
3.) Pass the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortions Act"
President Obama's signature
legislation, ObamaCare, will do more to advance abortion services in our
nation than any single act since Roe v Wade.
The "No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act" will prohibit taxpayer-funded abortions and provides for greater right of conscience protections.

4.) Pass the "Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act"
This bill will give the American
people the transparency they need to make informed decisions about
their healthcare insurance and premiums, to ensure that their healthcare
programs are in line with their religious and moral beliefs.
