1. Forget the Spending Gap; It's the Enthusiasm Gap that Matters
by Adam Brandon via TheBlaze
Karl Rove is worried.
In a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, he laments the fact that Democrats have outspent Republicans by more than $20 million in this year’s Senate elections.
“[T]he Democrats’ summer ad blitz,” Rove writes, “in which they spent $58 million to the GOP’s $54.4 million, dented some Republican candidates but failed to convince people to vote for Democrats, especially beleaguered incumbents. They’re stuck where they were at the summer’s start, and whatever damage Republican campaigns suffered can be repaired, given adequate money.” Read more here...

3. Our Economy's Real Problem: The Fed's Easy Money
- by Matt Kibbe via Investor's Business Daily
Americans know that there is a serious problem in the economy. Incomes are stagnant, and the employment situation is not improving in a meaningful way.
In fact, according to new Census data, average American incomes remained virtually unchanged in 2013 and were actually 7% lower than in 2007 after adjusting for inflation.
And yet, GDP continues to rise, and we are assured by the administration that the economy is in recovery. So what's really going on here? A look at the data is revealing. Read more here...
4. Here's Why ObamaCare Cost 30,000 Wal-Mart Part-Timers Their Insurance - Jason Pye
Wal-Mart has joined the ranks of employers that have been forced to drop health insurance for some 30,000 part-time workers, according to a report from the Associated Press. The big box retailer -- which has struggled with sales and recently lowered its profit forecast for the year -- made the move to adjust to rising healthcare costs under ObamaCare: Read more here...
5. Campaign Finance Reform Isn't About "Getting Money Out of Politics," It's About Silencing Political Dissent by Jason Pye
Senate Democrats recently tried to push through a constitutional amendment that would have repealed free speech protections in the First Amendment, making Congress the sole arbiter of what is and isn't political speech. Thankfully, this effort, backed by Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) failed to get the two-thirds needed for a constitutional majority, killing the proposed amendment for the remainder of the 113th Congress.
Though this effort failed, there stands a good chance that Democrats will, at some point down the road, launch another attempt to repeal the First Amendment, and it will again come under the guise of the Orwellian phrase "campaign finance reform." This phrase may sound nice, but the consequence, as George Will explains in a new video, is the silencing of political speech. Read more here...
6. Freedom Art: Simply America - by Frances Byrd
Simply America is the creative endeavor of Michael Prescott, who has been a long-standing member of Liberatchik and supporter of our efforts to build an art movement designed to #TakeBackOurCulture.
Micheal's videos are infused with a heartfelt pride in America and the people who make our nation great. Through his videos at Simply America, Michael attempts to tell the story of the American people in their own words. For too long, those of us outside the Hollywood and Beltway elite have been looked down upon and demeaned. It is Michael's hope that he can give the American people their voice; unscripted, without judgment, and from the heart. Read more here...

7. How is the U.S. Deciding Its Tax Policy? - by Logan Albright
Benjamin Franklin said that the only two certainties in life are death and taxes. But why do we have taxes in the first place? What are they for, and why must they be so certain?
It may seem a trivial question, but listening to modern intellectuals and politicians talk about tax rates leads one to wonder whether anyone has bothered to ask it recently. Traditionally, taxes exist for one reason and one reason only: to fund the essential functions of government. Read more here...
8. Supreme Court October 2014 Term Preview by Tommy Creegan
The Supreme Court will begin its next term October 6 and will hear cases into June 2015. So far, the Court has accepted about 40 cases, which is about half of the expected argument docket.
You can keep up with the Supreme Court’s schedule of cases over at the Supreme Court blog:
Holt v. Hobbs: (8th Circuit) Holt, a prisoner serving a life sentence in Arkansas wishes to keep a half-inch beard in compliance with his faith. Under Arkansas grooming policy, only those with dermatological problems may have a quarter-inch beard. Holt is challenging the policy under the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act which prohibits the government from restricting an inmate’s ability to practice religion, unless the restriction has a compelling interest and follows the least restrictive means. Read more here...
