Feinstein says Pres. Obama 'Too Cautious' on ISIS
Meet the Press
Senate
Intelligence Committee Chair Dianne Feinstein said President Obama was
“too cautious” when he said the United States hasn’t developed a
strategy to combat the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and
al-Sham, remarks that were criticized as projecting weakness.
“I
think I've learned one thing about this president, and that is he's
very cautious. Maybe in this instance, too cautious,” Feinstein told
NBC’s Andrea Mitchell during an exclusive interview on “Meet the Press”
that will air Sunday. “And so hopefully, those plans will coalesce into a strategy that can encourage that coalition from Arab nations.”
Feinstein
also said that Obama was wrong to characterize the extremist al-Qaeda
breakaway group that has seized large swaths of Iraq and Syria as “the
JV team” in an interview in January.
“I
think it's a major varsity team, if you want to use those kinds of
monikers. But I see nothing that compares with its viciousness," she
said. “I mean, they crossed the border into Iraq before we even knew it
happened. So this is a group of people who are extraordinarily
dangerous. And they'll kill with abandon.”
