Things aren't going well for Senator Mary Landrieu's re-election campaign.
First, USA Today reported that the Louisiana Democrat billed taxpayers $47,000 for private airplanes. Then CNN discovered that some trips were for her campaign.
Now we've learned that Mary Landrieu doesn't live in Louisiana anymore. The home where she's registered to vote is not her primary residence.
According to papers filed with the Senate, Landrieu actually lives in a $3 million home in Washington, DC.
If this weren't bad enough, she also FAILED TO PAY her property taxes on this home after voting for higher federal taxes.
Mary Landrieu doesn't want to pay her own taxes, but she's perfectly happy to raise your taxes so she can fly on private airplanes.
We released a new web video today highlighting how out of touch Mary Landrieu has become after nearly 20 years in Washington.
TWO LIBERALS
Senator Mary Landrieu isn't the only tax hike hypocrite in this race.
Congressman Bill Cassidy (R-LA) also FAILED TO PAY property taxes after voting for higher federal taxes.
Cassidy voted for the Murray-Ryan budget that raised aviation taxes and the Simpson-Bowles plan that called for higher capital gains, dividend, and gas taxes. Then he failed to pay the property taxes on his condo in DC.
Mary Landrieu and Bill Cassidy want Americans to send more of their hard-earned money to Washington, but got caught failing to pay their own taxes.
It's another example of politicians in Washington trying to force people to do one thing while they do another.
ONE CONSERVATIVE
Fortunately, there's a true conservative in this race.
Col. Rob Maness (R-LA) opposes tax increases and has signed his own "Contract with Louisiana" pledging to support the Constitution, to limit his service two terms, and to live in Louisiana -- not Washington, DC.
Please make a contribution to SCF today to help us replace Senator Mary Landrieu with conservative Col. Rob Maness.
Col. Maness is surging in the polls and does better than Congressman Cassidy in a head to head match-up with Senator Landrieu.
HOW TO WIN IN LOUISIANA
Louisiana has a "jungle primary" where all of the candidates are on the ballot in November. Since this is a three-person race and 50% is needed to win, there will be a run-off election in December between the top two finishers.
Our goal is to help Col. Maness get to the mid to high 30's before November 4 so he makes the run-off and can challenge Landrieu in a head-to-head race.
He was at 3% in March, he was at 8% in June, and now he's at 16%. If we keep pushing, we can help him double his support again and make the run-off.
Thank you for everything you do to fight for the principles of freedom that make this country great. We appreciate your support.
Sincerely,
