Missouri GOP Chair calls for an immediate investigation of 'racially divisive ads and robocalls'

Chris McDaniel slammed RNC Chairman Reince Priebus for refusing to denounce Thad Cochran's racebaiting campaign ads and robocalls in the June 24th election runoff. 

“The Republican Party right now obviously lacks leadership, particularly nationally, because the silence is problematic," McDaniel said in an interview on the 'Focal Point' radio show.

"We have to protect the integrity of the Republican Party,” which was "sacrificed on the night of the 24th due to desperation.”

Missouri GOP Chairman Ed Martin has gone a step further, asking Chairman Priebus to immediately appoint a special committee to investigate the racially divisive ads and robocalls.
In a letter to RNC Members, Martin writes: "At this point, I am asking Reince to lead us - to appoint a committee of we RNC members to get to the bottom of the facts regarding the racially divisive ads and to report back to us for the August meeting. I have purposely left the membership of this committee up to Reince so that he can move quickly."

Chris McDaniel has taken particular issue with what he deemed 'race baiting' by the Cochran campaign before the runoff.

'What they did, they hired Democratic operatives to go out into Democratic communities and call me a racist,' he said. 'That’s despicable … It’s the way Democrats campaign. It’s the way liberals campaign.'

'It goes to show that there are elements within our own party that have to be purged,” he said.
