2. FreedomWorks for America Congratulates Barry Loudermilk on GA-11 Runoff Victory
FreedomWorks for America congratulates Barry Loudermilk on his GA-11 runoff victory, along with the grassroots activists that pushed his campaign onward to the general election in November.
“Congratulations to Barry Loudermilk, who was clearly the strongest fiscal conservative in this runoff,” commented FreedomWorks for America President Matt Kibbe. “Georgia Republicans are ready for a change, and Loudermilk is part of a new generation of principled leadership in the GOP. Grassroots activists across the district are ready to finish the job and send Barry Loudermilk to Washington, and we plan to help them get it done.” Read more here...

3. Rules for Liberty
Don’t hurt people, and don’t take their stuff. That’s the philosophy of liberty in a nutshell. Everyone should be free to live their lives as they think best, free from meddling by politicians and government bureaucrats.
To me, the values of liberty just seem like a commonsense way to think about political philosophy. The rules are easily understood, our aspirations for government are modest and practical, and our designs on the lives and behavior of other people are unpresumptuous, even humble. The rules are pretty straightforward because they treat everyone just like everyone else: simply; they are blindly applied like Lady Justice would; across the board. No assembly required. 4. The Case that Could Doom ObamaCare Moves One Step Closer to the Supreme Court
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia made a crucial ruling today that should make ObamaCare supporters nervous. After hearing the case Halbig v. Burwell (formerly Halbig v. Sebelius), a three-judge panel ruled 2-1 that the federal government cannot legally distribute insurance premium subsidies or enforce the individual or employer mandates in states which have not created their own health insurance exchange. The case will likely go before the full D.C. Circuit Court, which would be the last stop before a likely journey to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Halbig v. Burwell is the one of four nearly identical cases moving up the legal chain across the country which all challenge one central flaw in ObamaCare. As written, the law very clearly states that its health insurance premium subsidies flow through "an exchange established by the state". Because of the way ObamaCare is structured, this also means that the unconstitutional insurance mandates also cannot be legally enforced except via a state-created exchange. Read more here...
5. Our Response to the Blacklisting at the NAACP Conference
On Monday, I was honored to host the Empower Liberty Summit in Las Vegas, Nevada. When the NAACP declined to allow me or the Rev. C. L. Bryant to speak at their convention, we were happy to hold our own summit to address the issues that matter to the black community today, to talk about the ideas the NAACP doesn’t think they should hear.
Think of it, the NAACP’s leadership is blacklisting blacks who have different ideas about the role of government in our lives. Tragically, this once venerable organization that sought to advance all blacks now segregates blacks based on political views. If you are a black liberal you get to sit at the counter – you get a voice, but if you are a black conservative you sit outside. Read more here...
6. Democrats Fear Free Speech Because They Fear the Grassroots
Recently, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved a joint resolution offered by Sen. Tom Udall proposing a new amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
The amendment would give Congress the power to regulate and place limits on political spending, not just from campaigns and SuperPACs, but any political spending.
Taking a loose interpretation of the language could give Congress broad censorship power over all forms of media. Read more here...
7. The Export-Import Bank Bill Exposes the DC vs. America Divide
The current political battle over the bill to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank reveals the immense influence the big business lobby has over both political parties. It also explains why this special interest group has declared war on the Tea Party.
Big business political influence boils down to financial support for any politician who is willing to bestow huge benefits on certain companies. The Export-Import Bank is a prime example. Read more here...
8. The IRS' Lost Email Contagion
Precedent is a powerful thing. Once something has been established as acceptable behavior, there will inevitably be a flood of eager followers. That is why trailblazers get all the credit. The brave souls who test the waters, who first go where no one else dares, who push the envelope and set the stage for the rest of us. In many walks of life, such as science, exploration, and philosophy, these people are heroes, pushing mankind forward even when it is dangerous to do so. In politics, however, the trailblazer all too often covers territory that would have been better left unexplored.
Lois Lerner is one such trailblazer. Far from being a hero, she taught the nation’s bureaucrats that they can destroy evidence of wrongdoing without consequence. The results have been quite predictable. Read more here...
9. Obama is Proof Why We Are Cynical of Politicians
In a recent speech imploring people not to be cynical about DC politics, President Obama admitted to past devious statements and political ploys when he declared, "I'm just telling the truth now. I don't have to run for office again, so I can just let her rip." [Wow.]
The President’s quote is totally consistent with Hillary Clinton and President Obama admitting they made major decisions on the Iraqi war for their political gain. Retired Secretary of Defense Robert Gates was dismayed by their behavior. Read more here...
10. The Judiciary with Ken Cuccinelli "The History and Importance of the Judiciary, Pt. 1"
In this next segment with former Attorney General of Virginia Ken Cuccinelli, FreedomWorks Policy Analyst Patrick Hedger asks about the role of the judiciary as intended by the founding fathers and the magnitude of the decisions made by the Supreme Court’s nine justices. Cuccinelli provides great insight into this often overlooked third branch of government. In the short clip, he discusses the proper role of the courts, the difficulties that sometimes arise when interpreting the U.S. Constitution, and the powers of the judiciary to check the other two branches of government.
