RedState Briefing 06/12/2014

Morning Briefing
For June 12, 2014
The Stupid Party
Less than twenty-four hours after the shockwaves of Eric Cantor’s defeat, the House Republican Party has decided to ignore the results as a meaningless anomaly.

They will expedite a leadership election to affirm the status quo with Cantor’s right hand, Kevin McCarthy, picked as Majority Leader.

McCarthy is squishy on a host of issues, bad on immigration, and not a friend of conservatives. House Republicans looked on the biggest electoral surprise of the year and are giving it the middle finger.

Kevin McCarthy was even one of the participants at the liberal "Mainstreet Partnership" retreat in Amelia Island. That group not only tries to obstruct the general Republican agenda, but also tries to actively defeat conservatives — including incumbent, elected Republicans. McCarthy collaborated with them.

Amnesty is coming friends. Amnesty is coming. They care more about Wall Street dollars than Main Street voters. . . . please click here for the rest of the post ?

The Man Who Makes it Possible
Conservative activists, many of whom dropped out of the fight after the 2012 election, got back into the fight because they saw Ted Cruz fighting. They finally had a guy who wasn’t going to make nice and go along to get along. They had a guy who would work to make DC listen. So they got off the sidelines, got re-engaged, and have been fighting ever since. That fight led to last night in Virginia. . . . please click here for the rest of the post ?

Gay pride flag flies over US Embassy in Tel Aviv
The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro, has hoisted the gay pride flag over the embassy building in Tel Aviv.  Todd Starnes grabbed the pic from the embassy’s Facebook page. . . . please click here for the rest of the post ?

The gulf between Americans and their Ruling Class can be measured with amnesty
Everyone in Punditopia is arguing about exactly how House Majority Leader Eric Cantor managed to lose his primary to an upstart challenger named Dave Brat, despite the powers of incumbency and a campaign war chest that made Brat’s campaign fund look like pocket money.  There’s never a single, simple, unified answer to such a question, especially in a House race, where local issues and the candidates’ relationship with their constituents always play a big role.  But it’s silly for the Beltway-Media axis to fall all over itself claiming that illegal immigration wasn’t a pivotal issue.  Of course it was.  . . . please click here for the rest of the post ?

The Obama-Clinton foreign policy is a smashing success
Blowback. That was the term the left, Ron Paul fans, and conspiracy theorists (to the extent these are different groups) used to explain 9-11. The idea that the attack on the Twin Towers as a direct result of US actions.

While this is pretty much a fantasy in the case of 9-11, we are seeing a textbook case of blowback underway in Iraq. . . . please click here for the rest of the post ?

@NRSC shoots self in foot and complains about the pain
Leaving aside for the moment the electoral blowback from the completely dishonest and dishonorable stories spun by Eric Cantor protégé Brad Dayspring, the entire Cochran campaign was based on the most stupid and irresponsible political strategy conceived in the past generation. . . . please click here for the rest of the post ?

There They Go Again
Not even twenty-four hours after Eric Cantor’s defeat and the Establishment that made huge coin off his loss is daring conservatives to celebrate David Brat’s defeat or fundraise off of defeating Cantor.

In other words, they made millions in defeat and don’t want the internal opposition to make a penny in victory. I bet today they’d trade the Senate Conservative Fund’s wine room for the hundreds of thousands of dollars Eric Cantor’s consultants wasted.

It is true that many national conservative groups sat on the sidelines publicly with David Brat. It probably helped him, frankly, given that the Chamber of Commerce and others have used conservative funding as a hot spot in which to target their missiles.

But it is not true to say that conservatives did not help Brat behind the scenes. . . . please click here for the rest of the post ?

Gun Owners of America Backs Rayburn Over Lamborn in Colorado’s CD-5
While everyone was focused on the shocking election results in VA-07, an email hit my inbox that could lead to another comfortable conservative being unseated in a Republican primary.

This time in Colorado.

Gun Owners of America has decided to support retired Air Force General Bentley Rayburn over Representative Doug Lamborn in the CD-05 Republican primary, according to a press release from the Rayburn campaign. . . . please click here for the rest of the post ?
